Damn.. that makes no sense! Why would they take it out if it was a voice command? Leaving it on the list would have had no impact to the people who didnt like it as far as I can tell.

I don't know. A lot of us ran through this with the early '08 models. There is no straight answer as to what happened. I did a bunch of research on this and its mostly speculation. The focus group was the most used answer from Infiniti, according to those that I talked to. I personally think they updated the Nav software and needed to keep the 9.3 GB space for the music box. So they got rid of some of the commands. I've had both versions and the Nav software is a touch different.

On my 09 vert, the only climate commands are on or off - no ability to set temperature. On the 10's, the voice command set is different although I 'm not sure how much improved it is - for example when you access navigation and select places on the 09 it gives you 5 choices, on the 10 it gives you those 5 choices as well as "others" which lets you say a new category like "ski resorts" or "infiniti dealers". One thing I'd like them to enable is a "page" command so that you can see more that the first 5 choices found.
If I had to guess about the reduction it would be that speaker variation was producing frustration so they reduced the set of possible commands to reduce chances of error. My wife has a chinese accent and was confusing the heck out of a Lexus on the weekend that understood me perfectly.
