Hide navigation grid?

Does anybody know if there is a way to turn off or hide the grid that is always present on the map. In my opinion, it is just clutter and makes it harder to distinguish roads, especially when compared to other nav systems that don't have a constant grid displayed. It is more annoying in night mode because it seems more pronounced on the dark background. It doesn't seem to be a configuration option, but thought I'd throw the question out there.

Doesn't appear that the grid can be disabled. It's there to provide a distance reference for the scale of you're using, i.e. 1/4 mile scale = 1/4 mile per grid square.

The grid lines only appear on the bird view. If you want, you can switch to plan view map where there are no grid lines. To do this you can enter the voice command, “plan view map.” If your model doesn’t have that command just press settings, navigation, map settings, and change view. The various views are listed.
