iphone internet radio trick
I found out something really neat with the iPhone today.
If you have your phone hooked up to the ipod adapter you DO NOT need to use the 3.5mm jack to listen to internet radio through your phone. Just begin playing a song on your iphone with the car's controls, then open up fstream (this is the only radio app that I have tried it with) and start playing a radio station. The iphone will fade to the radio and you will hear it through the ipod cable. It will appear to the car that the song is paused but you will hear the radio playing.
Another good thing about using the phone as your media player is that when you receive a call the song will pause and resume where it left off regardless of the source (ipod mode or internet radio mode). I prefer this to when I have a regular ipod hooked up that will continue playing when I receive a call.
After I found out about this I deemed it totally worth it to purchase the adapter to charge the phone in the car if you have a 3g/3gs.
Does anyone know any other cool tricks?
I know this isn't relevant for those that have or will have the 2010 since that supports stereo bluetooth and you can play whatever you want without connecting anything.

There's a application for the iphone called Pocket Tunes. With it and a paid online subscription to Sirius (12.95 a month) you can listen to Howard Stern in your car while hooked up to the ipod adaptor. You can also listen to all XM and Sirius channels as well as hundreds of other stations in this application. I only use it for Howard but it is the best way to go to listen to him in your car (or anywhere for that matter) without buying a Sirius or XM receiver or getting the car subscription.

It works for Sirius online as well as anything music that can be played through your phone. Pretty cool as an option if you dont have Sat Radio. Connection is not as reliable however.
