Neat trick i just discovered for users with an Android phone

I have an HTC HERO and i love that i can use the A-online radio app to stream my favorite online music station. Well, i had a brain storm the other day, and realized that the phone has a 3.5mm headjack on it. The sound qaulity through it is pretty decent. And we all know our cars have the a/v hookups in the center console that can be used with the AUX function. Soooo, i went to best buy and buy a 3 ft 3.5mm to RCA cable.
Like so

Now, all i have to do is hook that up to my phone, look for one of the thousands of online radio stations, from rock, to techno, to house, hard rock, croation, russian, whatever, its all there haha. PLug my phone into the charger in the center console as well, Turn the aux on and i can listen to pretty much any station i want through the phone. PLus i can still get all my notifications as it plays at a reduced volume through the speakers. Also if the phone is on my lap, i can hear the person talking through the car speakers and they can hear me through the mic on the phone just fine. I know we have bluetooth for this, but i just found that accesibility to all these radio stations to be just phenomenal. XM Is nice and all, but the volume is reduced for some reason. This setup gets plenty plenty loud and still sounds just as good as XM, if not better sometimes. PLus all i listen to is hard rock and house/breakbeat music. And XM has like 2 good rock stations and 1 dance music station. The current app i have has over 250 rock stations and over 500 club music stations. And thats just one application i found lol.

But anyway, my friend has the Motorola Droid and he has the same 3.5mm jack on his phone as well. I told him to get the cables and he has the same thing hooked up in his Yukon now. Oh, and i got the cables for $10, so its worth a try haha.

You can't use the A/V unless the car is stationary.

For video, this is correct. But for the audio it plays regardless whether the car is stopped or in motion.

I bought those same cables for my palm pre and jacked my phone all up. What i did was I disconnected it from the phone without making sure I hit the disconnect device icon and the phone was all screwed up so if that phone has that same button or icon make sure ya do it first because my cuz is on his 4th pre because of this.

That sucks. Mine doesnt have any disconnect function. It just transfers the sound from the speaker to the headphones and vice versa as i connect and disconnect the jack.
