CEL's, Dealer and BB grounding kit
My G is in service now b/c the VDC Off and SLIP lights keep coming on while driving. I scheduled service and the tech says the vehicle is reading an abnormal ground. They are saying I must remove the Black Betty grounding kit for warranty before they will work on it. I know the BB kit is not the cause but whatever. I told them I'd pick up the G, disconnect all the contacts and bring the G back but my service advisor is saying it must be removed. I asked whats the difference if the wires are disconnected but still zip-tied under the hood. He said it needs to be removed. I'm pissed. I told him its like if I have a pack of cigarettes in the glove box, they're in the car but they're not a part of the car. He put me on hold and is checking w/ their service advisor/tech support. Apparently, my G is throwing up codes they have never seen before. I'm leaving work now but I'll keep you all posted to the status of my situation. I f**k'n hate dealerships. Now, he's questioning me about my wheels... Back on hold. Errr.... Dealership: :Me
Update: 5 minutes later, never left work, just got off the phone. OK, tech finally agreed to simply disconnect the grounding kit from the negative terminal of the battery, clear the codes, test drive and go from there. I'm leaving it over night and will be hearing from them tomorrow. I have a feeling their gonna stick it to me. I was obviously pissed on the phone but not irate.

Not really an option. The company that owns the dealership owns the other Infiniti dealership that's in the Area, unless I drive an hour to Ann Arbor, MI (near PFizzle) or 2-3 hours to Grand Rapids. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Not excited.

Sorry so long to update...
Dealer cleared the codes and disconnected the Grounding kit (negative battery terminal) and reset the codes. Have not had any CES lights come back on. Haven't reconnected the ground wire. Car IMO is noticeably less responsive though.

Go to Ann Arbor Infiniti... they're good guys over there. I have a built TT G35 and they take good care of me. Ask for Tony, he's their best tech and a good guy.

I've posted many times that our cars have a unique grounding design with the current sensor between the neg battery terminal and chassis ground as part of the Variable Voltage System. If you connect any aftermarket that bypasses that current sensor then you're affecting the system. It's not a bogus claim in this case.
