Sorry but I wouldn't purchase any detector from Ebay or from any other retail outlet unless I can verify that they are an authorized reseller and I'm getting a fairly new manufactured unit with the latest firmware.

Escort/Beltronics might not honor the warranty of a radar detector purchased from an unauthorized resellers.
Unauthorized Resellers - Escort Inc.

Also large retailers buy merchandise in bulk and store the unsold merchandise in their warehouse. From their warehouse they ship the product to the stores that are low or out of stock. Unless you are buying a brand new model there's always a chance that the unit you get has been sitting in a warehouse or in a store shelve for a long time. How do you know you are getting a fairly new unit with the latest firmware.

I don't work for these guys nor did I purchase my unit here.

I am purchasing on ebay DIRECTLY from Escort! So no problems with warranty and not trusting that the software is up to date.

Just note that these days lots of cops use instant on laser from which there is really no protection. In some areas like upstate NY there is still plenty of regualr laser and Ka bands that they drive around with, but when I drive south on the I95, the radar detector never even beeps (until its too late) so before spending big money do some research about the area in which you typically drive.

I just ordered my Bel 955 yesterday from buyradardetectors.com. I wanted the 995 but just couldnt justify the cost difference for what is mostly the same performance and features.

I would love to get a blendmount/mikes mount for it, but again, $80 for a mount is nuts. I love the look and it seems to be very high quality but to me its just not worth it.

currently I am in atlanta, and I think most of the cops still use radar. Almost all are seen on the side of the freeway in their cars still. For laser, don't they have to be kind of out of the car pointing the laser gun at you?

Best protection for that is to keep an eye out for lots of brake lights ahead of you. People will almost always hit their brakes when they see a police car, even if they are not really speeding.

The Invisicord website lists the G35 as compatible, and I'm guessing that the wires will also fit the powered mirror of my 2009 G37 sedan. Anyone here have direct knowledge if this is true? Thanks.

not to stray off topic but cops still seem to use X band. I was driving on NJ turnpike and my v1 picked up a trooper using it.

the solo s2 sucks. it is cordless and the batteries don't put out enough power. the distance completely SUCKS and it doesn't pick up any pulse radar or any of that. It is also more expensive than the 8500x50.....
