2009 G37 Coupe Navigation System, Point of Interest (POI) quesiton
Hi all,
I was wondering if you guys know about this problem or help me figure out this problem. When I go to Point of Interest (POI) with my navigation system and type in my destination, let's say "Bank of America", it shows places that are 100-300 miles away instead of close by banks. I live in San Francisco, California but it shows places ranging from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Even if I select nearby places or that option that says by nearby location. To find one near me, I would have to scroll down a list of over 800 destinations to find the one closest to where I am at. For example, when I did this search in San Francisco, I had to scroll down to search 600 to be able to find the closest one near me in San Francisco. Does anyone know what is wrong or has this happen to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It gets a little frustrating when I am in a hurry. I have also tried to set my location to San Francisco and its doing the same thing. Is there another option to set my location?
Thanks in advance.

Is Cali split into two regions in the nav system? If you don't have itset to the correct region before you search, the results are gonna be wacky. But if Cali is all one region, it sounds like a glitch in the matrix.

This happens to me too. I look for something that I know was within 5 miles I just can't find it (ie Best Buy) and then when I press search it gives me crazy locations. I sort by distance and the closest one was something like 70 miles away, and when I scroll down the list they just get further away.
I eventually had to do it the old fashion way. Get out and ask someone.

I had the same experience Monday night - did a search on Walmart. The system returned 8 Walmarts with the closest one 180 km away. I know for sure there are at least 5 Walmarts within 20 km from where I was.
There is something wrong.

--UPDATE--
Shortly after posting this question, my navigation worked fine.
I guess before I did anything, I relocated myself again and it works. But then again, before that, I did the same thing and it didn't work. I guess if you keep pin pointing your location then it should work.
