I have had the exact same problem for the last week or two myself. So annoying, every two seconds it will cut off and say not connected, then ill switch to another setting and then the ipod will come back on, what can we do about this?

I knw that ther ewas a TSB for this type of issue somewhere:

I'm not sure if the two issues are related- my ipod will disconnect randomly just the same as it will cut on randomly. It's annoying. I am going to presen tthis TSB to the dealer and hope that it fixes the problem.

Check my old thread.

I had the same issue. Towbin Infiniti here in Vegas was of no use. After going back and forth quite a few times I decided to take matters into my own hands and play around with different iPhones. Turns out my iPhone had problems.
Still don't know if it was because I dropped my iPhone... never had problems charging or connecting to the computer, but I needed a different iPhone. Now all's well. Hope that helps.

I'd check to see if the phone "sleeps" after you turn off the ignition. If it stays up / on the menu, the battery will go dead in time. Then, when the battery gets a bit of a charge while driving, it will come back to life and your audio will play it, without selecting it. iPods not sleeping or shuting down is a common problem. Some do some don't I'm trying to find a solution via another thread.
.... If you have a newer, USB charged iPod or iPhone, I think all you'll need to do is add an adaptor to the factory cable to charge it.
