2009 G37 stereo

Looking into getting an 09 g37x coupe. Planning to get the premium, navigation and technology packages. How do you guys feel about the stereo that comes in them from factory? How is the quality? Any other opinions about the car in general?

The Bose Studio on Wheels is touted as the greatest thing since the invention of sound reproduction equipment. Personally I find it to be only so-so at best. It's a typical Bose system. Not horrible, better than average, but not at the upper end of OEM sound systems.

The name plate of "Bose" is quite misleading. The actual maker of our audio system is clarion, Japanese company that has signed a partnership with Bose, and a Panasonic head unit. It's a somewhat disappointing setup and could use some work.

As far as the car goes, I love it. Drives well, reliable, and cant beat the looks. My biggest problem was with the audio, but with a little work can be easily fixed.

Go for it man

It works fine for me, but it's far from studio quality.

+1. The Bose "Studio on Wheels" system is definitely not a Harman/Kardon system by any means, which I find to be better quality. But it is definitely better than a system you'll find in a Prius.

Keep in mind that not all G's come with the Studio on Wheels and it's a basic stock stereo....which I haven't heard.

I really wish there was a way to swap out the stock head unit in the G like you can in the Z's. The Bose system is fairly worthless IMO compared to what you could put together yourself.

IMO the stereo is put together just fine. I am not one who is necessarily "picky" about the stereo, so I am not looking for something life changing every time I listen to music in my car. Granted there are areas that could be improved, but such is the case with just about every part on every car. I understand what everyone has said so far, and yes, if you are a huge stereo enthusiast, you might be slightly let down, but it in no way takes away from the car.

It's a great sounding stereo for OEM. It isn't amazing or anything, but you really aren't paying a high price for it either. It comes in the premium package which is a deal with all the stuff that's bundled in it.

There are some better stereos in the BMWs and Audis, but you pay a lot for them. The premium sound upgrades can run from $1K to $6K. That's absurd. Seriously.

Could you spend some money on aftermarket equipment and have better results? Of course. If that's what you're into then don't expect the Bose stereo to compete.

If you want a cheap upgrade to make it sound pretty damn good then get a small subwoofer. It doesn't necessarily have to boom. You'd be surprised how much difference even a little bass can make. The stereo is pretty much ready to add one on. All the audio wires are in the trunk already for the Bose amp.

i'm actually quite disappointed in the bose system in our G's....i've heard other bose systems in other types of vehicles (most merc benz) and i honestly have to say that out of all the one's i've heard, benz has the nicest bose system out of them all....as for the G...i'd give it 6/10 at best

Since i listen mostly trance and electronic music i think the BOSE system is pretty great when is comes to this genre of music, but i would have preferred if the woofers were placed in the rear instead of the the front doors, however that being said i think that this system shines the most when you play soundtracks. I spent one sunday morning sitting in the back seat listening to the Transformers Score and it sounded brilliant.

Yea the system could have been better, but compared to the G35, its a huge improvement, they added speakers. But there are still speakers in the back, like where the old woofers used to be, are those not woofers anymore? I know the ones in the front are big and sound nice, but they don't sound like pure woofers.
