Navigation LCD Protection Film

Would any of you be interested in protection film for your LCD that is custom cut to size? I think I can get them done for $10 shipped. I have a prototype installed on my car and it’s been working great. If there is enough interest, I’ll get some made. I found some online places selling anti-reflective film for a lot more.

Taking my time, this is a 15 minute project on the 07+ sedan … no exaggeration! I learned the best installation method is to remove the LCD from the car and install the film in the house. The result is much cleaner and you don’t see the edge lines. Removing the LCD is very easy and takes about 5 minutes. Installing the film takes another 5 minutes and then another 5 minutes to put the LCD back in.

The anti-reflective and removable matte film is made of 5 mil PET and has a 1 mil 3M adhesive layer. This is the same material used by UPS for their signature tablets.

IN. I bought one when the car was new for about hat but screwed up the installation, got frustrated and trashed it! Couldn't find the vendor again. Now you're here.

Not to tread on your Koolaid, but I bought a "Clearguard XP" screen protector from eBay awhile back. It was everything it hyped itself out to be. The installation was dead-easy and I have no bubbles, no trapped dust, and no ugly edge gaps. It's anti-reflective, repels dust and is washable (incase you screw up the install or just want to reapply it).

Can you link me to that please? The site or listing of that product. Thank you.

Do you have a link? I can't find them. I'd like to get an idea what others are doing so this would be helpful. Plus if someone else does them cheaper, I won't get into it.

I can't imagine that Infiniti didn't make the screen with a scratch resistant layer. What's going to scratch it anyway? Your fingernails? Not a chance.

And $10 for 3 cents worth of plastic? Absolutely ridiculous.

Here's what I want to do:

I have enough material to install onto 10 LCDs. I will make five of them available for G37 coupes and five for 07+ sedans at a discounted price of $8 each because I'd like to get feedback on the installation process and about how the film works for them.

Sorry, but I'd also like make these only available for local guys first so I can "coach" them during the installation process. I'll be helping Kul35 on the 12/26 with his KPTechnologies install, so I'll be doing his sedan first since we'll have his car pulled apart anyways.

Once I'm comfortable with everything, I'll front the money for a production order and sell them along side the I-key covers. I'm still trying to target a selling price of around $10 each.

If you have a G37 coupe, LOCAL in Southern CA and are interested in one for $8, please add your name here:

Interesting ... dunno how they can do it for $2. Decent material with the right adhesive is not cheap. Even the one's used on my son's Nintendo DS are about $12 at Target. Thanks for the heads up!

Terry, you wouldn't happen to install KPTech modules would you? Or know a place w/ experience that could do it? I'd be willing to pay. What are you installing w/ Kul35?

Also, I am interested in the LCD cover, although I'd like to get some more details on it first before jumping in.

I installed the KPTech module into my own car. I'll be helping Travis with his KPTech nav bypass module on the 26th at his place. I was also going to put in his LCD screen protector while we have his A/V system out. Maybe he'll host an install meet?

cause chinese labour = cheap labour

btw, i'm chinese, so i can say it

besides, once u stick it on, it's most likely never coming off....so the adhesive doesn't really matter that much, only concern is the thickness for sensitivity, and if it's easy to get rid of the air bubbles once u apply it...
