Our NAVs SUCK!
So I've determined that our Navigation Systems SUCK!!! My old Garmin does so much better.
Example... I'm taking a trip from Atlanta, GA to Branson, MO on Friday. The G's Navigation System takes me over 100 mile out of the way. The Garmin takes me the correct way... I know the correct way as I've driven it before, just not with the G's navi.
I'll put it this way... I'll never buy another Infiniti with Nav again.
Question... Is there anyway to set your own route in the system? I just want it to so that I don't lose track of where I am and forget a turn.

I think you can set waypoints along your route. You can set them along the part of your preferred route that the G navi doesn't follow. I think that will work if that makes any sense.
Say hi to Roy Clark for me.

Tried that... You have set a waypoint as a street address.

No, you can set a waypoint from the map just by placing the target where u want on the map and pressing enter. You can also store routes.
I used to use that feature daily to take this insanely convoluted backroads route home each day... the place I worked was totally gridlocked in every direction in the home commute so I went like 25 miles down windy country roads way out of my way just to keep it fun I saved the route and called it "Home from work"

I beg to differ. I’ve used other nav systems like my old G35’s and my wife’s IS250. The G37’s is by far the best. It’s easy to use, has an excellent voice recognition system and has never taken me more than a block away from my destination (although once it did show an address on the wrong side of the street). I’d much rather have it then some stick-on Garmin that has fewer integrated features than the factory model.

I completely agree that sometimes the routes that the Infiniti nav calculates are not the quickest routes. I have lived in Ohio my entire life, and most of the time when I take a trip, I already know the quickest route. The Infiniti never correctly calculated the quickest route.
So I started messing around, and Mapquesting and Microsoft mapping each trip. I borrowed my parents Magellan and my sister's Garmin. Nine times out of the ten, the Garmin, Magellan, Mapquest, and Microsoft are in complete agreement as to the quickest route. They might differ in very small details, but usually calculate the route to within a minute or two difference. Half of those times, the Infiniti came up with an entirely different route. One time, it calculated a route from Dayton to Sandusky, going through Columbus. That would have tacked 35 minutes onto a 3 hr trip!! Ridiculous!!
While I think Infiniti's route calculations are absolutely retarded, I have no complaints about the rest of the interface. I'll still take the built-in nav system over a clip-on any day of the week.

my acura nav allows me to set most direct, quickest and shortest distance. They are not always the same thing. Sometimes the fastest route is longer distance wise but uses more highway....Make sure in setting you have the right way set and if u can choose make sure to set highway speeds appropriately too if that exists in settings

I've had 4 NAVIS. old Honda, new Honda, Mercedes and this one and the voice controls alone make the Infiniti the best. The Mercedes is a total POS and the Honda makes you voice command one at a time while this one lets you string the commands one after another.
They all steer you in the wrong direction and if you don't know where thefuck you are going then just what kind of a man are you anyway? We all know that the NAVI is designed to just get you to the nearest jack-in-the-box, right?

Its probably some kind of settings you got to tinker around with. I havent used the nav for long distance trips, but for locating places nearby it does what its supposed to. I'm not sure if i would recommend it to someone though, i think the Lexus nav's are more user-friendly...
