Compact Flash Drive on sale should I load up?
2gb Compact Flash Drive is selling for 9.99 on NewEgg, was wondering should I buy 1-2 for my G37s, what are your experience with the Compact Flash Drive?

CF works great. YOu can upload muic at a higher bit rate than can be used on the music box. However for ease of use I now use my iphone primarily for music. But I love how you can set up folders on your CF card and edit music with a little more ease than you can with an Iphone (IMO)

I love the CF drive. My wife and I have very different tastes in music. All of "hers" is put on the CF drive. I have another CF with about 40 of my all time fav's. I use it as much as the hard drive and XM.

No, but they cap the number of files allowed. It's wither 500 or 512, I forget which. If you have a lot of shorter, low bitrate music, you can get 500 in 2GB. It you have longer, higher bitrate music, you might need a 4GB to reach the cap,

I experimented with both CF and iPod. My take on the differences -
- CF can be limiting in size depending on how much music you have. Switching cards isn't a big operation, but just one more thing to store. iPod can have lots of space, and it's easily tucked away in the console.
- CF directory structure is much easier to use than the iPod because you can design it yourself. The iPod interface can be cumbersome to search through thousands of songs/hundreds of artists.
- Unless you have a CF card reader in your laptop, transferring data onto the cards can be a pain...need to store another gadget (card reader) in your house. iPod is simple USB interface.
- Getting the names of the songs to show up with CF was also more of a pain. iTunes/iPod is pretty intuitive with handling this. (although I've read that you can use iTunes to organize your music with the CF and have the names show up on CF)
- You can take the iPod out of the car and use it in the gym!
I no longer use CF. I purchased an 80GB iPod Classic off of craigslist for 120 bucks...more than enough storage for me and playlists can help you get around the interface search issue. The car charges the iPod when in use...so when deciding on getting a 2nd hand iPod, battery wasn't a concern. Would recommend shelling out for the iPod.
