which iPod to get?
First and foremost, out of all the models for sale currently, which can the car fully integrate with (charging as well)
and will the car play video without using the 3 plugs (using plug at bottom)?
with the car not in motion of course
the 2 things I am considering are the current nano (16gig), but for $50 more you could get the classic (120gig)
thanks for any input

the current nano (4th gen) won't charge (at least with the cable I got with my car). i ordered this adapter and it works fine. I'm still gong to ask the dealer for a 2009 cable to see if that works.

I haven't tried playing any videos yet.

If your going to keep it strictly for ipod car duty, then definitely get the bigger capacity. the size doesn't really matter if its gonna be in the car all the time.
I believe a lot of the newer gen ipods (including the iphone 3g) require a more up to date cable to get it to work fully, but itll come soon i think.
The cable you need to play in the car is a ipod AV cable, its the one that has red/white/and yellow connectors on the other end. its like 50 dollars from the apple store, and from what i read, its the only cable that works.
Apple made it so you are required to use their cable or it won't work. some kind of chip or something inside the wire? Talk about scamming people.

That ones nice, but i would go with what 04STi208G37 says.
Leaving a ipod in the car with the heat will surely kill the battery capacity. So getting a used or reconditioned one will be just fine for strictly car use.

The only thing that really pisses me off is that in order to play any video, i need to convert my damn .avi's into apple's mp4 format (which takes a good hour +). Too much of a hassle... probably better off getting an independent harddrive/video player...
