Installing Amp and Subs in G37

In a bit i am doing a Installing for a G37, i plan on taking alot of pics for everyone to see every step. So i got a pretty clear idea of what to do i am posting this to make sure i got this right. If all comes out right and correct i will post a detailed guide for all noobs to want to know how to do the install.

System:
  • JL Audio A1400
  • JL Audio 12W3v3-4
  • JL Audio RBC-1
Items:
  • 4 gauge Power Wire
  • Remote Wire
  • RCA Wire(Red and White phono)
  • Some Hook up wire
First i will Run the power wire from front to back of course. Now onto the tricky part. My understanding is that the Bose system does not do any of the sound processing from the HeadUnit insisted it sends a flat single and the OEM Amps do all that junk. So in that case all i have to do is splice into the correct wires so!

My plan is to splice into the B43 Woofer Amp Connector which is in the trunk area.
SO!
  • Remote Wire -----> Terminal #3 on B43
In regards to the RCA what i am planning on doing is buy some Radioshack RCA and cutting off one side of the connectors so i get the bare wire. There are two Wires in each Phono Connector
  • RCA White Negative ---> Terminal #9 on B43
  • RCA Red Negative ---> Terminal #9 on B43
  • RCA White Positive ---> Terminal #8 on B43
  • RCA Red Positive ---> Terminal #8 on B43
This will give the desired result of boom in the trunk

The signal from the HU is a blanaced signal. You will need to either have amps that take in a balanced signal or you will need a balanced to unbalanced converter, not a Hi-Lo converter. If you just try to tap into the + and - signals with RCA's you will get bad noise.

i appreciate this thread listing. Im anxious to see the outcome and any potential difficulties you may encounter along the way...

Im about to start an install myself in about 2 weeks.
Currently in the process of accumulating my components
which are:

JL 500/1 for 4080 custom box with Polk SR 104 sub (per Ainslie recommendation)

JL 300/4 for Infinity Kappa 3 ways in rear deck(positional tweets/mids)
and
Infinity 4" coax 2 way(positional) for rear seat side walls

JL 300/2 for JL ZR series 6 1/2" components for front door

hope this is a decent arrangement...any advice or suggestions is appreciated..
ryan
