New Escort????.....

Yeah its the replacement model. There are discontinuing the 9500i. Even though both the 9500i and ix have usb ports, the 9500ix model is able to communicate with Escort's servers and is preloaded with all the marked locations. Without the data you have to mark the locations yourself. Fortunately, they have a limited upgrade program for owners with the original 9500i to upgrade it to a 9500ix for a reasonable fee.

As far as distance and general protection it is about the same or only slightly better. The real power of the 9500xi is the GPS and being able to alert you to red light cameras, speed traps, and to lockout the false alarms. With escorts databases updated often, protection never goes out of date. They do have a trade in program for older models.

I highly recommend them, they are expensive but they basically paid for themselves if they get you out of at least one ticket. During freeway travels, I was alerted much in advance (a mile or two) before the I saw the LEO. Also forget Cobra and the other cheap radars they are junk and will just give you false alarms all the time so you will just ignore it before its too late.

Just got my 9500i upgraded to a 9500ix and love it!! It alerts you to red light cameras, speed traps and speed cameras, it's awesome! Plus it comes pre-loaded with the nationwide database on the GPS. Definitely the best radar detector on the market. Plus I applaud escort for letting there customers upgrade to the newest version (I bought the 9500i a little over 2 years ago) and they gave me a free 3 year subscription to database upgrades to boot!

I heard as far as simple detection they are comparable, however the V1 doesn't have a GPS system, so your likely to get tickets still with Speed Traps, and Red Light Cameras or even VASCAR (non-radar technique cops use), which the 9500ix can detect
