^Well it proves they have both A/V units available to be usd as replacement. Wonder if we can convince the service advisor to give us the Gen1 version.

I just had mine replaced, and unfortunately, it's the crippled version. I had the full version beforehand. Thus, I'll file the suit in Florida for breach of warranty should I be unable to do anything about it.

I'm not sure if I want to do a class action at this time, but regardless, if you're interested, let me know... of course, I cannot represent you, and you should always check with your attorney on this matter.

I'm fed up with this issue, so let's take it to court...

Oh that sux!!! Unless they're playing dumb, I think some service advisors don't know there are 2 versions. I mentioned it to my S/A and he hadn't heard anything about it.

Also, if you settle for the "crippled" version and ever decide to get rid of the car, you might have to explain that to the buyer. If they like the voice commands, that might be a deal braker.

If they were to give us the first Gen version of the AV unit, then would that mean that you would also only get the 06-07 year version for the navigation map?

I've been working with the crippled version for the last few days and this is what I've found out...

1. iPhone 3G connects with considerably less echo than with first gen unit
2. Phone commands SUCK!!! You have to say Phonebook/wait for the prompt, say voice tag, say dial... WTF? It used to be just Phonebook <voicetag>
3. Map options seem a little better (dont know if it's the same as old one, or if I just found additional options which I've never used on the first gen)
4. Did I mention voice commands suck? (and I have the minimize voice feedback enabled too)

Thank god it's a lease and I dont have to explain this to a potential buyer...
