I was just curious.

Instead of carrying around a stack of dvd's, I've converted most movies and music videos to .mov formats. Less wires, less power consumed. Can create movie playlist. Don't have to reach into the glove box to change or control anything.

I do see your point but my solution would work for your way also. My DVD came with a wireless remote which works to control the unit without the glovebox being opened.

As far as the iPod hookup that would be relatively simple. You would just reach into the armrest and switch the RCA cables to the iPod RCA outputs and tada, you now have iPod video.

I decided to make this install very clean, so you can never see the wires (unless you open the arm rest and you will see the RCA's plugged in. I mounted an IR-Sensor in the dash behind the AC vent so that I could use a remote if I needed to.

Let me know what you guys think. If you all have any questions on what/how I did this, please feel free to post and I will try to answer everything.

As you can see, it fits quite well in our glovebox. I did however need to do some cutting in the back to allow wires to pass through and needed to use "L" shaped RCA connectors.

Is it possible you could PM with details on the install? Especially the hardwiring.

I'm sure anyone with any car wiring experience could do this. The hard part was locating a wire behind the radio for +12v accessory. All the other work was just running RCA's through the dash and cutting out a small section of the glovebox to make everything sit tight and firm.

He plugged it in. It's a DVD made for 12 V car power. He found a wire with 12 volts and tapped into it. That's it.
