More door pics with some measurements...

Forum member Jon/Dillyo dropped off his car and left permission for me to list these pics. Some pics are obvious that my job wasnt complete at the time, but all is done now. I will let him chime in with thoughts on his own.

I grabbed what I could in shots that were available and I thought to take. I had limited time on this project, so some may be lacking in your desires, although feel free to ask questions...

First run was with DLS Iridium 3s - 3" domes. We had thought there was a problem with them and I took stock off the shelf of Dynaudio MD142s to replace them. Problem was later discovered to be not with the IR3s.

Yes, the door itself had to be modified. Cut open and resealed to accommodate as the OEM door panels would not in anyway work with either of these drivers.

Please Note Again Most of these are not fully complete pics and were taken during the process.

Thanks for the info and the pics. I have Iridium 6.2 on the way. I'm pretty sure the tweeter is not going into the sail panel without having to completely rebuild it. What do you think about the factory midrange location? I really don't want it in the kick panel.

Hey, I thought you pulled the 140's off the shelf? Not that it matters, but just so I am not spewing out inconsistencies!

Both tweets are reversed phase and I think I have the driver MR out of phase. Still needs some tweeking and eq'ing once I get back to dons and I can play with it on an RTA. The 182's play so nice and accurately that I pulled my 12W3. If you are looking to pound 130+ db's, it wont get there, but I will be adding two MW190's in an IB setup. Trunk space is critical with a kid and I just didn't feel I needed to sacrifice the space I would have with even 1 12W3. I have to send one of my amps back to Zapco since there is an issue with it so all of this is a little underpowered. This will be a killer setup when am done.

FYI, I will be selling 2 JL12W3's in the for sale section. One is already in a box that will fit in the G, if you want to make a false floor. It is 27x7x14.5 and fits all the way up near the ski pass, but has 1.5 in legs since it was on the bottom floor.

LOL...did you look at the pics?! The tweet went in the sail panel with some modification, but surely not a complete refab of the panel. I think the Iridium tweets might be a hair smaller too.

We also at first contemplated what to do since we didn't think they would fit in the sail. The real f'er is the midrange. Since you are only going two way, you could drop the tweet there. I would listen too them in both places first and put it wherever it sounds better. You could also drop the DLS 2.5 in mid ranges in the stock location with probably no modification really.

Could you elaborate about the modification to the door panels
in order to use the dome mid ?
Any pics of this mod would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The pic above with the black foam was straight across metal. That portion was opened up and then resealed to fit the depth of the mid range.
