MP3 cd and Ipod..

hi guys i'm a new G37 owner , just got mine yesterday ( pearl white) .
just have a couple of questions:

1- why wouldnt my cd drive read my mp3 cd ? it says no audio files
i'm draging mp3 files into the cd then burn , the usual way.

2- if i use an Ipod , will i be able to change tracks throgh the steering wheel buttons?

thanks this car ROCKS!!

1) I dont think our cars have the capability to play MP3's

2) Yea you can change your songs on the ipod through the steering as long as you're using the OEM ipod plug. It should be inside your arm-rest

and Congrats....welcome to the club

Yes, our cars can play an MP3 cd. But not an MP3 DVD (in case that's what you really have).

Are you using a CD or a DVD as your storage source? DVD MP3 will not work. Your MP3 CD should work?? Make sure they are not protected MP3's......

You can put the MP3's onto a flash card and use them that way. Flash cards will hold many more MP3's than what you can burn onto a CD disc. You can't though, load the flash card MP3's onto your hard drive this way. If you have just the original audio CD (wav format), the system will rip these songs onto your hard drive (a sh***ty option in my opinion due to the fact that no one buys CD's anymore).

Otherwise, if you have an iPod, just use that as your source for the music.

Wow, I'd take it back to the dealer or read the manual for your specific car. Try a different disc (new one, CD-RW) and only burn one or two MP3's on it. I use CD-RW so that I can erase and reload with a new song list when I get bored with the ones that I have loaded on the disc. Our US cars can play MP3 CD's and we have the hard drive. Sorry bro!

Try using a CD-R I'm not sure if the problem is with the CD+/-RW but alot of Non-PC cd systems have issues with re-writable media. I don't have any problems using CD-R's in mine. If you have mp3 disks and your Ipod at the smae time you have to press "Disk" to switch back and forth between the Ipod or the mp3 CD's.

I have not tried to load an MP3 but you're better off getting a flash drive and loading it up with MP3s.

I have used CD-R's and CD-RW's all the time for mp3 cds in my G. In fact I particularly love the CD-RW's because when I want to reburn the whole disk just to take a few songs out and add a few I can do so like every other week to get new songs on there without wasting a disk. Word to the wise however to get the most out of your CD-RW's handle them with care and make sure the digital side stays scratch/smudge free. The longer you keep it immaculate the longer it should serve you re-burns.

Back to the OP - yes just use a good sofware like Nero or something and make sure you're using mp3 format and not aac, mp4 or w/e other new formats are out. If Im not mistaken even WMA should play on our CD's. I can't imagine why your car won't play mp3 cd. Have a friend burn a CD-R or CD-RW full of mp3s and play it. That way you can narrow it down to either your burning software, disks, or music files.

Good luck!

It might the the software that you're using. I usually use windows media player (data CD option) and one time it burnt 2 playlists (instead of one) on the disc and the car was unable to read it.

Has anyone tried using the Flash card for MP3s? I heard from a few that it doesn't sound as good as the CD deck.
