Aftermarket Alarm

Has anyone installed an aftermarket alarm in there cars. If so, any complications? Did it interfere with the factory alarm system.

We did the engraving. My husband got it done for me by his friend, but haven't discussed with the insurance company yet. If the insurance company says that they do it all well and good, but if they don't I will still know that I have them done. Just incase. Calling the insurance company on Tuesday.

I've heard of it but don't really know about them. All I know is that you have to hide the sending unit really good in the car because if someone finds it, they just throw it out and then thats done for that. And honestly in reference to the factory alarm, I figured it would be good enough for nothing to happen to the car, I guess I was wrong.

KP technologies makes a shock sensor that hooks right up to the OEM alarm. Thats the best bet.

Just looked at there website. Can't find anything on the shock sensors. Do you know how they hook it up. Especially that it hooks up to the oem alarm. Didn't think that could be done.

I definitely agree, but where would they draw the power from. Unless they take it from the battery. Because any other power they draw from won't work. The company told me that they tried on another G and that wherever they ran the power from the alarm worked for a little while then didn't work. Something in the G that the power shuts off until you unlock the doors. Where ever they ran the power from just shut the alarm down. They had to use the fob key to unlock the doors and then you were able to reset the add on alarm.

i'm sure some company found a way around it because that's just not acceptable.

I know, but I wish someone here would post something in reference to the aftermarket alarm. There can't be no one on this forum that doesn't have one. I guess I'll have to wait and see who posts something.........
