As for the other outstanding brands like Morel, Hertz... etc.

I picked the Image Dynamics because i like i said... bang for the buck!

example.... IDQV3 retail.. $299, Morel $900
Now if money was not an issue, frequency response for Morel Ultimo's is one of the lowest i've seen, 10 - 900 hz.. sick. More info on http://morelhifi.com/products/mob_su...rs_ultimo.html

As for amplifiers.. Only one i know right now that has a built in DSP is ZAPCO

Actually SRP on the Ultimo 12 is $800, but I get your point. Although money taken out of the equation .. the Ultimo would be a hands down winner. It has however been quickly replaced with my Dyn Esotar sub and looking back is not in the forecast.

Hertz subs??
Stereo Integrity subs??
ID subs??
digital design subs??

just to name a few.

trust me i would take the IDQ over the 12W3's V1 anyday
I haven't heard all of the subs you listed, but I have heard a good amount over the years and I haven't heard a sub that played more accurately than the original W3's. And since I don't look for 135+ DB setups, I find accuracy and low end extension more important than total output.

I will confess though, that I have been out of the game for the last 7+ yrs, so maybe the light got reinvented, but my past years of xperience tells me I doubt it!

Please do tell me why all of those subs are better than the original W3 and please try not to just state TS parameters as we know real world output cannot just be measured by TS.

I used my ears for it. as we all know it is subjective.

Im not looking for a 135+ DB setups. The most i want is maybe 120DB's.
Iv had the Rainbow 12“ Vanadium 2 of them, and they were one of the most musical subs i have ever had. Ive had a 12inch Stereo Integrity Mag. and that leaves the w7 in the dust with regards to SQ . Ive heard the Hertz ML3000 it just sounded beautiful, like a dream.

But at the end i picked the IDMAX, for a IB setup all i need is one.
or i might just go with 2 soundsplinter RL-i8 or 2 DD 1508.

it be of a audison LRx 5.1k

dd 1508's sound amazing but I would look at a single 3500 series in the right enclosure it will give you some amazing sq. I can't wait to hear my 9112's

But I have to say you can't go wrong with an idmax

I don't know if I am infering inaccurately, but you seem to be using the W7 as a reference. Have you actually worked with the original W3 V1? You do know there are 3 versions and the original is almost a decade or so old.

As was stated by Amp, JL does not put out the same product they use to. They have targeted the quick money, earthquake crowd. They didn't win all those world finals by putting out a product that was inferior to all the other competition

also just think how much manufacturing and materials have evolved in the past few years. Think of how much composites have changed our lives. That in itself should be reason enough to explore different options than those available 7 years ago.

I'm not saying I'm has not evolved, but I do think they've been riding on only their name for far too long.

Yes jl did make some ground breaking products. A few years ago the w6 was probably the best commercial sub you could buy.

Now i am not 100% sure but i doubt you'd see those same w3's would stand a chance by todays standards

It seems as if this argument is much like the old school muscle cars vs the new school

i wanna hang the 2 1508's from the rear deck, thats why i need them. i dont want to put it in a box and waist all that trunk space

I use the W7 as a reference because it is superior sub VS 12W3's V1 , 12W3's V2 and 12W3's V3.

If the subs i mentioned leave the W7 in the dust, what do you think they will do to the 12W3's V1.

Maybe 7 years ago the 12W3's V1 was good, but dont compare them with subs we have right now.

like i said, i would pick the IDQV3 over 12W3's V1 , 12W3's V2 or 12W3's V3.
IDQV3 will walk all over the 12W3's V1 there is no competition.

Not sure which your referring to..
System 240
System 242 Esotec
or the new Esotar line which does not include any 'system' setups as of yet.

Now with your Powerlines ... Where did you pick up all your Rainbow gear? Do I possibly know you from a different forum?

Well, if things changed that much and that rapidly, then I guess all those Dyn's that people have had in their cars must be crap!

Again, it sounds like you have had no experience with the sub I have refered to and I don't see how you can judge it if you hadn't. Transducers have not really changed over the years and any experienced enthusiast or installer knows that car audio systems are 90% install and 10% equipment.

So due to age would we also dismiss the Phase Linear Aliante? How bout the Alto Falstaffs? Time and technology isnt always the key as either of those would walk all over the majority of transducers currently available.
