Sirius in 08 G37 Works.

Hey guys. Just put the Grubbs Sirius receiver in my 08 G37. If you remove the trunk panel where the XM receiver is, there is a spare connector and the sirius tuner plugs right in.

Run your antenna wire, activate your receiver, and bam! you've got Sirius instead of XM. As far as I can tell, XM navtraffic still works, but the XM radio is replaced by the sirius in the "SAT" radio choice.

REALLY!? That is great news. I hate XM. Are you sure the nav/traffic still works? So now you will have to pay 2 bills, one for traffic and one for music?

So, you now have an additional antennae for the Sirius?
Where did you locate it? The XM remains but becomes inactive (except for traffic)? How much for the Sirius receiver?
Peeps are going to ask for pics, some will want a DIY.
Thanks for sharing.

great to hear. Infiniti not having Sirius anymore was almost a deal breaker for me getting the car. I am also curious about where the extra antenna is placed. Great find!

do all the features of on-screen display still work with this unit?

when you say run your antenna wire, does this mean there's a separate antenna and you can't use the OEM unit for XM?

I looked on Grubbs, they only had the antenna not the actual receiver (I think its around $250) and the ant. was $50 so about $300 guys and of course the Sirius monthly fee.. I don't think the XM Nav will work because you're going to be removing the XM receiver and swapping it out for Sirius. I can't beleive so many of you dislike XM vs. Sirius.

I can't imagine it would have two connections for sat receivers (as mentioned by the OP), but we will see.

I'll post some pics after I install it this weekend.

I have been a huge Howard Stern fan for a long time. It just isn't the same for my 6 hour drives home once in a while when I don't have that to listen to. But Bfranks, I definitely look forward to seeing what you find out. Good luck!

No Go for those with Nav

It seems that for those with the navigation package, the sat receiver is built into the main AV control unit. There is no way to swap it out. I tore apart half my car trying to trace down the antenna cable after I couldn't find the receiver in the trunk. So today's tip: Read the service manual before starting any projects

It looks to be a fairly easy swap for those without the nav package. However it does only show one connection in the service manual, so you will lose XM traffic if you replace the receiver (confirmed by Grubbs).
