Auto Headlights Off?

I dont know if its normal, my G37 headlights are set to Auto mode. I assume, in my previous G35, that meant, after switching the car off, lights would go off in a few minutes. With the G37, they just dont switch off, they stay on and on. I left the car for 25 minutes then came back and they were still on.

I got the owner's manual, read about Auto Headlights Off Delay function by going to navigation, then in settings adjusting how long for the lights to stay on. Well no matter if I put 0 seconds or up to 180 seconds, lights just stay on.

Long story short, they dont turn off, I have to do it manually everytime. I have every option in my G37, apart from the technology package but I dont think Auto Headlights Off function requires it. Am I correct?

Anyone else experienced the same issue with the headlights? If yes, how did you resolve it? Or is it somekind of system error?

You don't need the technology package to make your auto headlights turn off. Are you leaving the doors or trunk open when you get out of the car, if so, that could be the problem. On my previous car, the auto lights would not turn off if a door or the trunk was not shut. Otherwise, you should take it back to Infiniti so they can fix it. Should be a simple fix.

If you have auto headlights then you have auto off as well. I have my headlights set to auto and delay 0 and the headlights shut themselves off once I get out of the car and close the door. Like NotUrG said, make sure that your doors and trunk are completely closed and if they are but your headlights still don't shut off automatically then take it to your dealer. It may be that you or a passenger are leaving one of the doors cracked open or that there's an issue with the door causing your car to not recognize that it has been closed. Good luck.

Like berzerko stated, make sure your headlights are set to auto on the headlight switch itself.

The headlights are set to AUTO on the headlight switch. All Doors are closed, I checked it like 10 times , trunk closed too.

I used to own g35 for 3 years with headlights Auto function, I am very aware if something is open, headlights would not go off.

I have scheduled a day to drop off my car at Infiniti service, I hope its an easy fix.

Also make sure you have nothing interfering with the sensor on top of the dash like a piece of paper or a lot of dust.

When was your G37 produced? I ask because on the Infiniti website it mentions delayed availability of auto on/off headlights. Just click on "Build Your G Coupe" link. My guess is some of the early cars don't have this feature.

There is also a setting in the nav screen to set the auto off timer on the headlights

Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. I'd be pissed if I didn't have that option.

Does everyone here just leave it on Auto all the time? I still have a tendency to turn them on and off manually...habit I suppose...even though my Accord had auto lights too haha.

I leave it auto all the time. Don't really ever see a reason to do otherwise

I dropped off my car today at Infiniti Service. Service department technician was a little surprised with the problem.

He said that he will order the part and once it will come in, I will have to drop off the car again and they will replace it.
