iPOD not charging???

I've had the car for 3 weeks and since then the iPOD has been connected in the car. I take it out of the car to use it in the gym and the battery dies after 8 songs. Does the cable not charge the ipod while connected to the car?

To the OP, the answer to your question is pretty straight forward. In the 3 months you've driven the car, how long can you leave your iPod connected to your car before it dies still connected? I mean your driving along and your iPod dies... if the car does not trickle charge the iPod it would only be a matter of time right.

Answer that and you'll know. (Hint: I've left my iPod in my car for months at a time without charging).

It does when the car is on. But when you turn the car off it doesn't turn the ipod off so the ipod drains. Then you turn your car on and it charges a dead ipod for a little bit. Then you take it out of your car with basically a dead battery.

I would have thought that the IPOD would shut off when you shut the car off, but apparantly not. I'm having the same problem with mine.

Yeah I just keep mine disconnected from the car and make sure I hold down the play button to turn it off when I leave the car (or is it menu? I can never remember).

I have an IPod classic and mine goes into sleep mode when the car turns off. It takes a little bit but it turns off. Not sure what is wrong with your IPods. You might want to upgrade the software on it if you haven't done that yet.

My IPOD Classic 6th Gen definitely auto Pauses when i switch to another input or turn the car off. I am assuming the IPOD will then turn itself off after being paused for a certain amount of time (I know the screen goes completely off).

I leave mine in my car so I don't notice it ever being dead.
