Question-Might get a ZUNE

I Was Thinking About Getting A Zune. If I Wanted To Watch Movies And Stuff Like That On My Dash Screen Then All I Would Have To Do Is Buy A Auxilary Cable And Plug It In Right?

So Correct Me If Im Wrong But The Only Benefit To Having The Ipod Interface In The Center Console Is So That You Can Scroll And Navigate Through Your Songs On The Dash Controls Right.
So Even If I Bought A Ipod And I Have The Ipod Connection In The Center Console I Would Still Have To Buy Auxiliary To Watch Videos Right?

Thanks In Advance

Correct. However, the video display is only functional if the car is not moving. Just to be sure you are aware of that.

Otherwise, yes... the iPod interface is entirely concerned with music playback. So, choosing playlists, skipping songs, finding artists, etc.

Yep, it can be controlled through the steering wheel controls. Some of the options require the center console but the main functions can be done on the steering wheel. If you don't have a preference between Zune and IPod then get and IPod. You will be happier if it is going to be used in your G a lot.

I have a Zune and still bought an IPOD just for this car. It's worth it if you have a large music collection and want any song available. Musicbox locks the steering wheel controls for search once you star moving, you can still use the dash controls though. Just about everything you can do on the IPOD with music you can do through the steering wheel control except change shuttle/repeat...and you can do it even while moving.

That's what I bought just for this car...

It works just as well with the 60gb iPod 5.0G video and both of these work with the aftermarket Kenwood I have in the F150. I have tried the aux inputs with the 20gb iPod 2G and 1gb 2G shuffle I have as well. I don't have the video cable for either the nano or video (they are different unfortunately) so I haven't tried the video in yet.

I don't know if thats necessarily true. I think the new video cable is only needed for the ipod touch.... not the classic or the nano, but i could be wrong.

The current iPods (6G Classic, 3G nano, touch, iPhone) require a different video cable than the 4G and 5G iPods did. The older models had video-out via the headphone jack. The new ones require a cable that plugs into the dock connector. This was done because the video-out pin in the headphone jack is now used for the mic on the iPhone's headphone set.

This cable works with the current iPods (it also will work with the 4G and 5G models).

This cable works on the 4G and 5G models only.

I haven't tried a camcorder video cable on me 5G model yet, but I have heard that they don't work because the order on the pins differs from that of the correct iPod video cable.

just tryed it and it did not work. 3.5 jack to aux cables and got audio but no video. on the ipod it did show a pic of the dock connector and said "plug in tv out accesory" so now i need a dock connector to aux!!!sucks cause you cant have your ipod interface connector and the aux cables plugged in at the same time.
