Ft lauderdale.

It really all depends on what's all needed.

I own a 2010 so I'm down to experiment on my own however for testing purposes I take:
  1. 2010 M&A + wiring
  2. 2010 Navi switches
  3. 2010 A/C + radio controls + wiring
Many times especially at places like LKQ/Upull will give you cheaper prices is you remove the warranty (included in pricing)

For those who own 2010+ looks like SSD HD and programming?

The full test setup would be:
Head unit
Radio / climate buttons
Buttons / **** under screen
LCD
GVIF cable (?)

Then for getting serial access you need arduino, level shifter, breadboard, some jumper wires and resistors.

I have a full 07-09 bench setup which is what I've been using. I just ordered a 2010 screen. I need a 2010 head unit.

I actually don't know if the buttons are different from the two systems. I would think probably not.

I think I'll stick with locating the parts.

I have 7 engine harnesses, 1 VQ37VHR with exhaust on a stand, 6 swap harnesses in the garage.

I'm going to wait a bit until I start getting into Arduino.

I grabbed myself a 2010+ nav unit and screen off eBay. Gonna play with it. If I get unlocked maybe one of you 2010+ guys can test it in your cars.

If my existing unit gets any slower I might have to be one of those guinea pigs...

FWIW, thank you for your persistence, time, and work on this project. You've made more headway than most!

I might be up for that, as I was considering using the PI replacement that ICrap did (in case something gets borked).

This function button thing has really got me stumped. Can't figure out how to map it. We know it's possible and at least 2 people have done it. (youtube guy and murano guy)

Based on this video it's possible to map it to the 6 (?) radio hotkey

Maybe its not possible on my 09 headunit? the newer one is still on it's way. I dunno, I'm stuck.

Doubt those guys would be willing to share any info with us

I attached the app.bin from the GT-R if anyone wants to poke around.

This is the list of console commands I have already extracted. (GTR 2010)

I wonder if there is something in the commands where the unit reads whatever input from the function button as a certain value that you can change it to look for the value from the 6 button. Would be nice if that was in an ini or some kind of file instead of baked into the hardware code.

I can't speak for Murano guy, but for the FX35 guy (presses '5' button to activate) I believe he is using some type of module to add both the GT-R menus/ functions, as well as the other things he has added. If you notice, when he starts the car, a separate display dialog comes up BEFORE the standard splash screen...

If we knew the resistor value for the GT-R's function button...

Aw man, i just realized that. I think you're right, he has some other module hooked up which is probably sitting on the CAN waiting for the 5 button and sending the function button.

I mean worst case I can buy a GT-R panel off eBay. That's an expensive thing to do though.

Well, here is a partially busted one.

With all due respect, even broken it is not worth $120. The GT-R tax is absurd on these parts.

While having this added functionality would be ideal, if it could be accessed on the software side then great. But to invest a ton of money- even as a hobby- at some point it is just not worth it.

Be interesting to see if the gadget from "motorvate" would interact with this...

If you head over to the GT-R forums and post on one of the Tesla style screen swap threads (T-Rex), or make a post looking for this part, I think you could get it fairly cheaply or close to free since this part is discarded when installing those screens. Might even try calling the shop houston, or other shops that install these screens to see if they have this part laying around left over.

I offered the guy much less on the broken one, maybe he will take it. it seems like scrap otherwise. I agree to invest a bunch of money is not worth it.

Good point on the GT-R forums. i'll make an account and ask. which is the most active GT-R forum? I see like 4 of them.
