Stereo equipment installation

Hey guys/gals,
Has anyone here installed any aftermarket equipment that requires the battery to be disconnected (i,e. amplifiers, alarms, gps, etc)? I came across this post and now I am concerned:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-video-and-electronics/175912-help-car-won-t-start.html

I will be installing a gps recovery system in my car, and later on I will hook up all the stereo equipment that came out of my G35 (amps, processors, speakers, etc). I just want to make sure I am able to start my car after all the installations are complete.

Any thoughts?

I'm about to have a shop install some stuff for me about an hour from the dealership. I really hope this isn't a common thing.

I had my audio system installed by 3 installers. Everything went smooth. My system detail is in the sig. Also, I replaced the factory battery with a Optima Red Top.

Will do. Of course I'll make "a look at my pretty stuff" thread just to attention ***** a little.

I'm also having an alarm+remote start installed (dont know which one yet probably viper/clifford) so we'll see how that goes.

Nice setup! Are you using the stock head unit? If so, how are you converting to RCA? Do you have the premium package with the Burr-Brown chip? How does it sound? What subs are you using?

I am going DLS all the way with the three way 8" component system (Iridium or maybe the Dynaudios), a four channel amp (Ultimate A4), and a monoblock amp (Ultimate A6) keeping the head unit (BB chip), and I will hook it up via an AudioControl DQL-8. Ohh, 2 JL 10" W6 subs. I already have it all except the front speakers.

The result of my car not starting....They found 18 codes , a loose battery terminal and an in-line fuse type device blown?? There isn't any way to know for sure how this happened but it sounds like an isolated deal. My recommendation is to disconnect the battery as explained in the manual and be careful, obviously, to follow the instructions and maybe even put electrical tape on the terminal wire while it is disconnected.....As a side note the dealer was great and got it back up and running just fine. I am convinced Infiniti is a first class outfit with customer service in mind.....

actually it makes sense... everytime u disconnect the battery and reconnect you have a chance that you could blow fuses and probably what happened to you was when installing the system you reconnected the battery and blew a fuse plus you probably didnt secure the connection with the battery. also could be a theft control device on the G37.

Yes I'm using the stock head. I had Memphis 6ix but it was horrible. I replaced with a JL Cleansweep (btw, you do not need a signal summoner). I do not have the premium package on my g37. I have 2 JL 10" W3. It sounds terrific! Although I wish i had an equalizer for some extra on the fly tuning. But I can wait till a g37 head converter is available.

Nonsense, while driving your stereo will be running off of the alternator, not the battery.

No signal summing? I have the capabilities so I will sum it any way. I will let my processor break it up again in a way that will fit the new amp/speaker setup. My proc has a 32-4ch band equalizer, and if I knew how to really set it up it would work wonders in my system. Right now it sounds awesome, but I am still tweeking it and slowly getting better at it. I even have a running spreadsheet with the different configurations and save them in the eq's memory, that way I can slowly get to where I want to be.

I had the JL W3's and they sounded great, but I got the "bigger is better" syndrome and upgraded to the W6's. I was wrong, the W3's sounded better in the G, but the W6's are not bad at all (that is what I keep telling me, maybe I will convince myself that the W6's sound better).

not saying starting right off but in the long run.

-When one has a good system in a car/truck the bass will make the rpms decrease everytime the bass hits... This is why a Optima would be strongly recommended!! But this is like down the road.... understand?

Understand, but I would upgrade my alternator instead. They system is driven by AC current not DC.
