Get XM cheap after the trial period

Get XM cheap after the trial period
XM is "okay"... I prefer my own CDs or MP3s, so it's definately not worth 12-13.00 a month to me.
I asked on another forum about any ways to get cheaper service, and someone replied with the script below.
It's good for someone who wants to renew, or someone with a trial about to expire. I noticed I'm coming up on my 3 month mark, and I have received 3 mailings from XM, and now about 2 calls per day on my caller ID.
Here is the script I was given, and it got me service for $77/yr. which is around $6-7/mo. I also added NAV traffic for $3.99/mo.
Hope this helps someone like it did for me. They WILL do it.
First... call and make sure they are not going to auto renew you and charge your credit card. Have your radio code and call the customer service number. Tell them you want to let it expire because it's too expensive at full rates.
Then, they might offer you the $77 deal. If so, skip the rest of these steps and take it. If not, hang up after making sure it will not auto renew.
After it cancels, then call in with the script about having gotten a flyer. See the scan of the previous flyer posted HERE .
SCRIPT FOLLOWS:
Then call the 800-682-4114 number and read the script: "Hello. My subscription to XM Radio has expired but I just got a flyer with a special offer. I would like to take advantage of this offer for $77 for a year.
The old promotion code, "zwinback", according to recent posters who secured the deal, is no longer needed. If they ask for the radio code, give that to them. They WILL ask for it because that's the only way they can turn it on. If you had, in fact, gotten a flyer, it would have your radio code printed on it so have it handy. You can always get your radio code by tuning your XM radio to channel 0.
If at first you don't succeed, try again. Most people get it on the first try but others required 2 or 3 calls to different Customer Service reps.
Yes, you CAN get it over and over again. Many of us are on our third year at $77. But NOTE: This is not a front door, well known promotion. It is a quiet deal to get old customers back who have canceled. If you jump on the phone and say that you heard about this deal on the Internet/Acurazine, you might just kill the Golden Goose. Be considerate of those coming behind you.
Lastly: as you will read, the SCRIPT works. If you don't follow it, you're on your own. Take the time to read the instructions for best results

more XM promo information
Found this thread a few weeks ago as well:

Because I have a US car, I get the US feed in Canada! 170 channels vs 130. The Canadian content is basically a subset of the US; there is nothing unique about it. Meaning, all of the channels you get in Canada, you already get with a US subscription.

i'm surprised that you had to go through hoops like that.
when i called i said, "hi, my free trial is about to expire and i'd like to see what your rates are for renewing."
the lady said, "we have a limited offer for $77 for the first year..."
"sign me up"

What is the purpose of the Live traffic thing if your city does not support it?
Also... if the 70 dollar deal doesnt work ... the XM specials on the website is 44 months for around 8 bucks and ten cents a month...its a multi year deal. Not as good of a deal... but its a little closer...

Here's the link to XM's subscription page. XM Radio Subscriptions
However, as stated earlier in this thread, if you call XM and say you have received a letter offering half off the normal subscription rate. You will get the $77 per year deal.
No hopping through hoops, and no need to wait for your service to expire to subscribe.

Got mine going for $77 yr today too plus the $3.99 Nav. I just called up and said I want to take advantage of the half price offer and it worked like a charm. I also got 13 months for the price of 12 by paying a full year in advance.
So that's $9.60 a month for 13 months of radio and Nav. Thanks to everyone who posted this info.
