No mute?

I am screwed already because I only have the condensed list of Voice Recognition Commands but why is there no mute voice command or button? Am I just missing it or is it another oversight on Infiniti's part?

Quickest way to "mute" is to just press the volume **** to turn off the sound system.

If you choose to use the 'Alternate Command mode' then use voice command "Guidence voice" to toggle sound on or off.
Ref: Page 3-34 of Voice Recognition Owner's Manual Suppliment.

To activate 'Alternate Command mode': press SETTING/Others/Voice recongnition/Alternate Command mode. Upon confirmation, press 'OK'.

Then to make the system less verbose, push SETTING/Voice recognition/Minimize Voice Feedback, then <BACK> out.
Ref: Page 9-11/12 of the Navigation System Ownes's manual.

I know how to turn it off; that doesn't take a genius to figure out and I know that it wont make any sound while it's off. I don't want to turn it off, I want to mute it; it's not the same thing.

Thanks G37, I know about the alternate command mode as well. I just wanted a mute command/button.

yeah I was surprised this weekend when I found there wasn't a mute option... They'll probably add it a couple years down the road to irk existing owners.

It is just as quick and easy to tap the on/off button. I wondered about this too, but it makes sense.

No mute blows. A bit of an oversight on Infiniti's part if you ask me. I had an 06 Miata and it had a mute button.
Of course the rest of the car makes up for the lack of the mute button!!
