iPod

Has anyone actually used a Nano or Classic iPod with the new G?
I tried a Shuffle on three cars including mine and it doesn't' work.
Before I got invest another $200 on an "iPod" I'd like to know if they actually work. Service was no help at dealer....no ipods to test with. Inkum

Thanks to Matthra

Appreciate it. The Shuffle didn't work with audio cables nor the included cord with the car. Inkum

My 80 GB 5.5 Generation iPod works great via the iPod interface. My shuffle works fine via the auxilary ports with an RCA to 3.5mm stereo connector. I rarely use the shuffle though in the car since the iPod interface is so easy to use.

Thanks. Tried RCA cord...didn't work. Also tried adaptor for car-supplied cord to Shuffle...also didn't work. Next try is to buy a Classic, try it and if it doesn't work, have dealer fix. Have had several people say Nano and Classic work with existing cord, but only you saying Shuffle worked. Have a feeling the interface in the car isn't working right but won't know until I pop for an iPod. Am an OLD guy so don't know anyone nearby who owns and iPod. Inkum

I'll retry tonight just to be sure. I'm almost positive my shuffle worked via the an RCA to 3.5mm stereo into the AUX ports. I will report back on it this evening. At work now.

Read Blackjack's post and make sure you are in AUX mode and not IPOD mode. To use IPOD mode you have to use the IPOD interface. If you are using the AV connections, you will need to be in AUX mode to listen to the IPOD. I am just thinking this is what you might have overlooked.

Thanks but no working

Thanks much, but it doesn't work in AUX mod. I just get, "ipod not connected" and then four other options for XM radio, widescreen viewing, etc. I got the audio cords from Apple (red and white). I'm an idiot on audio stuff. There are three outlets in the audio...white, red and green for video. Apparently, I either have wrong cords (only 2 of the 3) or can't put audio cords in video inlet or it doesn't work? Inkum

You dont hook up your iPod that way, You hook it up from the bottom via the iPod Cable In the Armrest, The 3 Ports you are referring to are for video only, and only work when your car is stopped.

I was told by another member that it could be hooked up using audio cable since the provided ipod cable doesn't work. He says his works. There are only two ports....ipod supplied gizmo and the three video inputs??? Anywhere else I'm missing?
