Went from XM trial to subscription

Well, my XM trial was about to expire. The XM folks have been calling me about 5 times a week for the last two weeks. I didn't really care if I got XM or not. But, I didn't want to pay the $9.99/month plus $3.95/month for NavTraffic (3-year subscription). So, I told the XM Rep on the phone that I was unwilling to pay more than $10/month for XM only (not including the NavTraffic). She said hold on, came back a few seconds later and said they would drop the price to $77/year (or $6.43/month). I went ahead and also subscribed to the NavTraffic for $3.95 month. Good deal - I was kinda surprised they just simply dropped the price. Give it a try if your trial is soon to expire.

Bought my G37 in August and the XM Rep said my trial was expiring Nov 24 - so 3 months.

This may be a foolish question, but is the trial subscription automatic or does the buyer have to initiate it??

Yeah if you google around theres always XM deals kicking around.. bringing it down to a good $5-6/month for a year.

I've been lightly contemplating it (while still on my trial), but somehow I dont think I'll bite. If it had the quality of the internet radio I'm accustomed to listening to, i'd be otherwise sold...

The XM Rep told me I could cancel the $77/year plan at anytime and receive a pro-rated amount back. She said the $77/year plan would renew after the first year - so it sounds like it will continue at $77/year. And it didn't require a 3-year committment. Based on the letter I received a few weeks ago from XM, I could have subscribed for three years at $9.99/month (but that took three year committment).

When I bought my G37, the trial was already active. I'm assuming the dealership started the trial for me as part of the car prep work. But, if you go to the XM website (www.xmradio.com) you can find instructions for activating a trial.

Anyone else get a good deal on the subscription? XM called me yesterday but didnt match the $77/year that drh recieved.
I told them I would think about it and to call me next week. I would like to be able to tell them that others have recieved a good deal so I can do the same.
TIA!!
