i found a website that sells a module similar to what everyone is talking about. Crimestopper Security Products, Inc. go to remote start and look up the RS-0 module. I am thinking about getting this one and trying it out.

I found a stereo shop local to my area and they were able to install remote start in my 08 G37 coupe. Have a Viper 5701 along with SmartStart. Only bad thing about it is not sure if this is the shop's fault or it's something to do with the car itself, but it can still remote start even in gear. I'm getting it removed (heard horror stories).

My car is getting remote start installed today by a friend who owns/operates a high end custom stereo, security, remote start operation in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
He's done 6 remote starts for me over the course of the last 10 years.
I believe he charges around 400-450 for this car and it has an alarm.
I asked the dealer for a quote and it was about $800-900.
When it's done I'll report back.

I got the car back that night but haven't been online since.
System is nice. Works from quite a distance. Impressive.
Small extra attachment to my key chain. Not a biggie. I will take it off when I want to be low profile.

I got a Compustar system with Drone Mobile reomte starting on my EVO. Pretty cool. I can track my car on GPS. I can cut the engine off from my phone (imagine if it were carjacked). My phone tells me if the car engine starts/stops or if my car alarm is triggered. Compustar makes a module for the G37 as does Directed Electronics (maker of Viper and a lot of others). What is done is the PC board from your intelligent key is soldered into the module and you can start the car with your intelligent key. The process "consumes" an intelligent key. My installer did a great job and everything works as advertised BUT he was unwilling to do it with the intelligent key. My extra transmitter is as big around as a 50 cent piece and about 1/4" thick. I also have my EVO to use as a transmitter, but it is not 100% reliable so unless I'm in an area I know it works I carry the coin-transmitter.

sorry if this has been asked and answered...what parts are dealers using for this? My installer wants me to use a dedicated Remote start/alarm, but I'd like to factory integrate the remote.
