That's what I was thinking too speedracerg35, but a review between the three says the V1 isn't all it's brought up to be. idk. I guess anything beats my 2002 Cobra model# POS187

I bought the Beltronics Pro RX65.... it didn't seem to live up to my expectations so I bought an Escort X50.
I ran them side by side for about a week, and they seemed IDENTICAL. The only thing I didn't do was take them on the highway, but from what I have experienced so far, the Escort is a little superior.
Bel/Escort are the same EXACT company. Same address, same owners manual, same everything.
The Bel STi is supposed to be > *. Ideally I'd love to try that against a V1. That is supposed to be the best out right now. That and the V1. I've heard it's better than the V1 either way. I don't really feel the need to know where the radar is coming from... If you're driving you should be able to figure that out on your own, do a little evaluation by yourself. If you get hit by the rear, you'll be caught anyways.
I've also heard lots of problems with the new Escort 9500i.

I love the idea of the 9500i, having wished for GPS in a radar detector. I have an 8500 and it is pretty damn good, but it stays in my MDX.
I also have a V1 in my G, which is superior to all I have tried before. I am on my 3rd one, having upgraded twice over the last 10 years. You send it in, with an upgrade fee relative to the age of the hardware, and they send you a new one, box cables mounts and all. This service alone has made it the obvious choice.
I ran the V1 side by side with my 8500 and it is clearly superior.
I have this mirror mount which is clean and tight. You need the 23mm for a G.

Super fast shipping and superior to Mikes mount, which looks like an amature affair. (no offense)
I also have the invisicord. Together, these make for a perfect solution.

^^that mount is EXCELLENT.... i guess you HAVE to have the V1 tho for that mount.
To the OP: If you are in a state or province that bans radar detectors, or pass through one of these places frequently, then you def want a Bel STi. It is immune to detection from police.
I have a Escort 8500 x50, but commute to Virginia all the time and pass through DC occasionaly.
The VA police just bought a bunch of Spectre III's which can detect all radar detectors EXCEPT the Bel STi.
If I wasn't near VA or DC, then i would more than likely purchase a V1 (i must admit). It has been shown to be the best, and i see that now.
In anycase, you really cant go wrong with the top 4: Bel RX65 | Bel STi | Escort 8500 x50 | V1

They do have other mounts for different radar detectors: Escort and Bel

Actually, i think i would still want to conceal it... give em less reason to break into my car. I guess i could just remove it each time i park... but i'm lazy. Like to be worry free.
That does rock tho

And for some of you guys testing radar detectors side by side, you might want to read up on this article... putting radar detectors side by side isn't the greatest idea from what I've gathered..

i have t he passport 8500 X50 with the ZR3 laser shifter package hard wired into the car. Wouldnt trade that system for anything. I have also had the V1 and just in my personal experience the X50 worked better then the V1 In many trials its usually the V1 and the X50 that win. Just depends on the mag. Also since the new 9500 came out that is suppose to be the best now but have not tried it yet.

I wouldn't just trust one source... try the guys of lidar site for seemingly unbiased tests and results. http://www.guysoflidar.com/
Having said all that, i am in fact buying an STi for its stealth abilities. That article sure does makes me "feel" good about my upcomming purchase.
