Yeap! There was a good thread about in the beginning:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/showthr...=173936&page=2 <---- scroll down to post #27

I posted pictures in that thread using an invisicord (great customer service, prices, and quality... if ur interested). www.invisicord.com

To save you some reading (cuz at that point we were all just trying to figure stuff out):

The middle black wire is the negative. The brown wire, where u see that yellow probe in the pic, is the +12v switched power. The green wire, which is NOT USED, is the +12v constant power... if u put the positive terminal in this, ur RD wont turn off when u turn the car off... u hafta turn off and on manually.

Read that thread i linked you... should help!

2 questions:
- Is there anything special about the invisicord like in-line fuses, etc? I prefer do it yourself, and was thinking of cutting a standard phone cable (for Escort 8500) to my custom length and heat shrink 2 pin connectors onto it?
- Anybody think there is a drawback to also wiring my Garmin into this? I like to hardwire it and have it sit at the top left of my windshield.

The Garmin is my main reason I am thinking about just putting this together myself.

Thanks

Update: Sorry Guys, I found the answer to my own question: https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-video-and-electronics/175561-improvised-invisicord-assembly-and-install-tip-for-radar-detector.html

I got the Bell STI, its pricey but it came with a cable that plugs into power and ground, in between has a control unit for adjusting volume and mutes alerts that with a little shaving fit perfectly between the seat heater switches and has a nice long cord going up to the unit itself placed just to the left of the rear view mirror. Totally stealth, great placement for the mute/volume button, looks clean (almost factory) and the STI is an AMAZING detector!

V1 with mirror mount, scanguage II with mirror mount, cheetah gps, garmin nuvi with trapster pionts loaded. Remote display for V1 and remote mute micro switch behind light switch. Also m45 laser jammers, 3 heads in front, 1 in rear. Everything is hard wired through the cigarette lighter circuit so it turns on with car. Also did aux video / nav hack with switch in center console.

Bell STI has a hardwired cord that comes with it along with a remote to mute and raise and lower the volume. I put the remote in the blank button between the seat heater switches, it fits ok but is slightly raised as you can see. Mouted the unit just to the left of the sunglass holder. I am going to have a custom bracket made for it and mount it upside down in the next few months.

Nice setup, I like the remote in the empty button spot by the seat heaters. Just a tip, I would consider dremeling that remote so that it sits flush, i.e. if the circuit board and buttons are smaller then the box for the remote..

Just remember even if you can jam or block a cops radar or laser he can still issue a summons based on his independent estimation, I'm certified by suffolk county to be able to estimate speed within +/- 5mph. So if your haulin *** I'm still going to stop u regardless if I can get a proper radar reading.

I still have some work to do to it, I want to try and dremel out the switch cover to have the remote fit flush, I'm just not very "artistic" with the dremel!
