Hey I live in Houston as well, my map shows the green, yellow and red arrows but I never get any warnings. I read the manual, made all the correct settings but it doesn't seem to be working. What am doing wrong?

i've two warnings since owning the car.
first was for heavy traffic, second was for a traffic incident.
it seems like, to me at least, it will only notify you of either severe traffic congestion or an accident if and only if (iff) it's along your current route. additionally, it will only notify me if there is an alternate route to be taken if there is such an event.
there is a stretch along I80 where if you exit, you can't easily get to the other side of town, some sort of worm hole opens or something. anyway, there was an instance where a wreck occured in the middle of this zone and i received no warnings.

Not close enough?
I guess I haven't been close enough to an accident to get a warning. Just today I saw on the long range map an accident (upturned car icon) and if i hadn't had the long range map (split view) I'm not sure I'd have known about it until it was too late and i didn't risk getting within 5 miles.

Voice Guidance on
Well I always have the voice off and my wife was driving to Dallas so I programmed in the destination and turned on voice for her. Lo and behold you actually get voice alerts on traffic problems!!!

I live in the SF bay area and I think its a nice feature to have. If you commute everyday you sorta already know what traffic is going to be like. Its nice that it tells you the traffic congestion ahead of time but either way, your gonna hit it, unless there are alternate routes or you take local.
When I hit unexpected traffic, I check the traffic info and it tells me there's an accident or stalled car ahead 4miles or whatever and in my head I'm "ohhh, so thats why its slow."

It works great in my area for daily commute. Over the past few days I had to take a road trip from DC to NY. Was awesome on the ride back to DC. Skipped over an accident by taking an alternate route. I saw the stopped traffic on the highway while I skirted past it on the back roads.

NavTraffic only covers major highways... like I95, 195, 395, 595, Palmetto and Dolphin. Anything else and you wont have any use for it... sorry to say, but for something like this to be truly "useful" it would be useful in most driving situations, and not only when I'm on the highway (which is not much).
Either way, I have it, and for the $25 for 1/2 year that i'm paying is not too bad. Hope the service gets better... or at least update as well as the clearwater channel stations do...
