Sound system upgrades

Is anyone going to replace the head unit or speakers and amps in their G? I'd think it may be rather difficult with the navigation integrating so many different tings on this car. If you are, what equipment is going in?

If i do anything it will be speakers and add some stuff in the trunk maybe. Not getting into the wiring mess to get bluetooth to work with an aftermarket kit.

Well when you get ready to select speakers, subs, amps, etcetera please share what you find regarding cutout diameters and clearance depths. I will be too chicken to pull everything apart on this car to find out myself; I'd rather wait till someone else has done all the hard work.

For once, I am pretty happy with the audio on this car. It needs some bass, but other than that, it sounds pretty good to me. I'll probably end up adding a sub once I figure out how to do it.

Yea, I am waiting too unless i do my door panels in suede or CF or something and they are off alredy. I more likely than not will leave the stock Bose in there but add my own bass to the trunk in the form of a silly wild fiberglass box.

i have an amp and two 12's in a box from my old car but I dont think that I want to give up what space I do have in the trunk.

It does need some more bass though. Maybe just one 12 will suffice.

I still have my custom 1 12" box from my G35 I'm going to see how much it will be to trim it to the new trunk space and throw it in this week hopefully. The stereo now is great, but it needs just a little more base once in awhile. I'll take pix if/when I get it done.

I'm considering DLS Iridium 8.3 for the front stage. 8" to replace that stock front door 10"s, 3" mids & 1" tweeters in stock locations. I'll have to see about the rear because I'm sure it will be an installation nightmare with depth restrictions. Most likely no rear fill and a pair of 10"s in the trunk or rear deck.

You will most likely have to add in something like JL's cleansweep, Alpine's Imprint processor, or the Rockford three-sixty. I'd be willing to put money on the factory amp having crossovers built in sending independent signals to each speaker. My girl just picked up her new G today and Hopefully I will be able to steal it for a day to take it apart and see whats going on.

As for the radio....If you got the Bose then you have a great sounding source to use with what I mentioned above. If its none Bose then you will have to deal with using what radio/cd came with the car. The dash itself is the biggest problem and I have yet to find any pics of a JDM dash thats got a standard opening like the first gens.

After giving the system a better listen and talking to a few people who know more than I do about it, this is a more likely route for me also. What sub? Which JL amp? Where'd you get the custom box done? I'm presuming that the remote that you connected to is a preamp signal?
