CDs get hot

Id like to see something that spins at a very fast rate stay at room temperature. Do people have anything better to complain about? Who cares if it gets hot, just leave the CD in the headunit or put the damn thing away....You cant be serious

Not a trivial concern if heat "bleeds" into adjoining slot for music card--that technology is quite susceptible to heat and can effect playback. I imagine, however, that insulation is adequate.

My primary concern about the CDs getting real hot was the heat has got to have some impact on the surface of the CD and it seems it would eventually cause degradation of the CD surface. I've played with this over and over and I'm guessing there is at least a 20 - 30 degree difference between the CD when I eject it from the G37 versus ejecting it from my Suburban. Just for my own curosity, I'm going to try finding a surface thermometer and see if I can measure the actual temp difference. This really isn't a big deal since everyone seems to be saying their CDs are hot also (so not unique to my G37). But again, I'm guessing that high level heat can't be good for CD surfaces over the long haul. I record all my CDs to the Music Box, so I actually only play the CD once in the car.
