How do you get the epoxy off?

u should be able to change your display mode on the RD to show how much voltage it is being supplied. I think your supposed to be between 12 - 16 volts for safe operation. Thats the min and max. For me, the cig lighter does just fine. Runs anywhere from 13v - 15v.

Cig lighter is supposed to be rated for an absolute minimuim of 12v, so supposedly its "garunteed" not to dip below 12v out of the factory.

Bought the 9500ix. LOVE it. One complaint I have is the damn suction cup mount is weak and it causes the radar to droop and angle up a bit. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Seems like since I installed the stealthcord this has happened, but I didn't notice it when mounted at the bottom middle with the regular cigarette plug.

I have the radar mounted against the divers side of the rear view mirror (suction cups in tint, radar just below)

also does the rear view mirror really put out enough power to be equivalent to plugging into the cigarette lighter? Can't see how it could put out enough power to keep the range the same... or does it not matter how much "power" just as long as it's plugged in?

thanks

i hear you, and understand why you might be skeptical about the distance. we all just want to make sure our RD is working properly. i was expecting more distance too, but rarely get more than half a mile warning. Usually its just a 1/4 mile.

Its just the techniques cops use, the angles, and the objects that the radar signal bounces off of. Don't get to hung up about it though. After a lil testing, and some decent saves just trust your RD. Think of it as a second set of eyes to try and get you to slow down in time.

Always have some "bait" in front of you, don't be the first one speeding around the bend just to get popped.

I love my Passport. Drove to Vegas the other day, saved me and my co-worker 10 times EASILY.

3 times, the dude in front of us got pulled over.

My co-worker that went with me just bought one after that trip.

Maybe someone replied to this already but I didn't want to read all the posts. I still have the phaser, but haven't used it for years. I bought it in 1999 and used it for a couple years in a Mazda MX-6 I had back in the day. The main thing I used it for was driving by radar speed signs to see what would happen. It seemed like it did a good job on those at least. Typically, the speed on the sign would start jumping up and down erratically. I think those were X-band if I can remember. I don't know if it would have a similar effect on the radar gun, but seems logical. Don't know how much or if the phaser technology has improved since 99. Nowadays I ride behind the V1 hardwired to the rearview mirror with the Country Joy aluminum bracket. I love that thing, feel naked without. I recently completed a cross-country road trip, about 6K mi total, and I think the V1 saved my speeding a$$ a dozen times.

I've had 9500ix and V1.
I kept the V1 and sold the 9500ix.

I prefer false alarms over none.
It makes me stay alert.

I've noticed sometimes 9500ix gave me no alert at all when a police was shooting me with a laser gun.
If you can bear all the false alarms, go with the V1.
Other than that, get the 9500ix, which is a really quiet detector.

I am too lazy to read through all the posts, tired of worthless cops catching me for doing 5 over in **** TX. How do I mount the radar detector. Any suggestions, are there any mount systems that are specific to the G37 cockpit?

Thanks

hmmm I had the phaser in my old car. It did absolutely nothing, exept when I started the car I got 1 green light. It NEVER made a sound, even at startup and never did anything to those signs. I either got a broken one, or it just doesn't work at all IMO. I just googled a pic and it showed a green and yellow light lol.

It's a complete waste of money if you ask me. My last car got broken into twice, and both times the thieves left the phaser and it was on my dash hahaha.

I have the 9500ix now and although the range kind of sucks, I like it. Just got my gf the 8500 x50.

Yeah I'm with you there. Even though it seemed to work on the signs, I never had much faith in it. It was more just a need to possess gadgets that drove me to buy it in the first place.

As far as mounts, I got this one, which works great:

*Valentine and Escort* Radar Detector Mirror Mounting Brackets

And the Blend mount looks good as well:

Welcome to BLENDMOUNT.COM

Then get an invisicord or go to your local auto electronics shop and ask them to wire your RD to your rearview. That way it is powered on and off with the ignition. Best way to go IMO.
