Auxiliary Input? How does it work?
How does the RCA auxiliary input in the armrest work? Is it only for video? I’ve been reading that the car has to be in park to watch video, but what if I just want to listen to audio? I have a couple non-ipod music players and I want to see if I can use the auxiliary input in the armrest, while driving. I sure hope they didn’t make it for just video.
For those that already have the car. How does this input sound? How is the video quality?
Thanks in advance.

plug your line-in into the left/right using a split.. on the radio page through inputs until you see aux.
.. ipod integration is as slick as it gets... you may hate ipods or love another player.. but its definately the way to go these days if you want portable tunes in your car... else you can definately get by with aux.
have fun!

I have an Ipod and I'm looking forward to the ipod integration. I also have a Sirius stiletto with recorded satellite radio content that I want to use while driving. Cool....looks like the car has everything I need.
Thanks for the info.

You can still use the audio portion of the AUX inputs while driving. So if you have a non-iPod MP3 player, you'll be able to plug it into the AUX ports and listen to your tunes while driving.......you'll just need to control everything from the MP3 device itself.

One thing I found interesting in the Quick Reference Guide of the G37 is this line on page 24 under the INFINITI iPod Interface System Operation:
"You can view Videos on the central Display screen by disconnecting the interface cable and connecting an A/V cable from your iPod to the auxiliary jacks in the center console. The vehicle must be stopped and the parking brake set."
I don't have an iPod compatible A/V cable to test this out but appears the standard iPod cable that comes with the car won't be able to pass videos through to the display.

^^ I have that RCA iPod cable from Apple and use it at home to watch video on our tv's(lost episodes and that kind of stuff) It plugs right into the RCA jacks and away you go. Unless you are camping I'm not sure sitting in the car and watching videos is such a great idea, but it is possible. Probably sitting in the back seat and watching video directly on your iPod is about the same thing... or in your tent

I would have thought it be a tight squeeze, but if you're six feet and and can lay there comfy, that would be a great selling point. Think about it, how many sporty cars can you do it back there 180. Of course you need to prove your point, get your test subjects in there and snap some pics.
