The interesting thing is that the 7 speed final gear ratio is 3.357. The weight of the car drops by a tiny bit.

yeah those ratios look sexy on the 7AT, damn I love my 6mt but id love to have my way with that 7at too....i know the S's mean standard but what do the P's on the PDF stand for? Im surprised the spoiler is not an option on the G37x...why wouldnt it be?

EDIT: I am guessing it means "P" for included with "Premium Package"

EDIT2: Probably Means with a "Package" in general, because Bluetooth, Rear View Moniter, ICC, are all "P"

I think that the 09 seems to be worst due to it new gear ratios...I ve just found the 08 5speed auto gear ratios and it seems to be more short, so less 0-60...than the 09 7 Spd auto

Obs: (can anyone check that ratios with the owners manual to see if they are correct for the 5auto?)

The 5Auto is pretty close to 6MT, and the only gains would be on mpg, not for 0-60 like infiniti claims too...

But the final drive is lower...so slower acceleration.

It isn't just about the final drive ratio...you have to look at it for each gear.


If you compare gear by gear, if you multiply the numbers to see the more accurate gearing ratio, you'll see that the newer one is geared more aggressively.



If each individual gear has the same gear ratio and the only difference is final drive ratio, then yes, the car with the higher final drive ratio will have faster acceleration

man in terms of spec's and options i think they are the same and i thought the gas mileage would be a big difference (like getting at least 30 mpg) but its only 2 mpg difference so i think ppl should get the 08 g37 because u can save money on it still.

im planning on getting trading my g35 in probably in like 3 weeks =).

2MPG on a 3600+lb car with just a transmission change is huge. As for saving money - save a penny now, lose a penny later.. You are buying a 2008 when 2009's are about to hit - you are taking a $2000-3000 hit at resale time for that decision. With sales so bad, 2009's will find their price near invoice in some markets within a few months. The best move is to be patient.

The purpose of the spoiler is to increase downforce on the rear two wheels, if you're talking about the rear deck spoiler. In that process it is not as streamlined when compared to one that doesn't have one...therefore increasing its drag coefficient.
