TPMS for new wheels..buy new or swap??

I just ordered a new set of 084 wheels and tires. The dealer said he will either mount and bal wheels but I will have to buy new tpms (costs??) or he will ship wheels and tires unmounted and I can swap out tpms and have them mounted locally .....Cost and pain in the a$$ factor which do you folks think makes more sense??? thanks

Tpms from the dealer cost alot for all four. If you have the extra money then I would buy new ones.

If you don't have the money then I would just swap it out to save money.
I would do whatever you are more comftable doing and easier for you.

If you buy new dont you have to have them programed to the car? Im just gonna run my TPMS in my summer rims since Ill be running them 9 months of the year. Ill just have to look at the TPMS light for 3-4 months while its crappy out.

Yes... Buying new TPMS i was quoted at about $130 per corner, not installed. Then you have to have them programmed to your car for about another $50.

I say just have the people mounting/balancing do a swap..

Or try to find someone selling used TPMS?

From other threads, if you swap then you have to keep the orientation the same or you have to reprogram anyway. In other words, the left front has to stay on the left front, etc. I have not done it....just from what I have read.

Just use your current ones; it'll save you $. Besides that, I personally prefer to have tires mounted and balanced locally - I can watch to make sure my wheels don't get damaged and I have somewhere to take it back to if it's still not balanced. If one isn't right from tge vendor, it's not feasible to take it off and ship it back to get rebalanced.
