Key West / Miami, FL?
So, my fam and I are planning on driving to Key West late next week for a mini vacation. I've read some information on the Keys, all of the beaches are man made, except for one.
Is it a fun place for family? Will the weather be good enough for a tan? Any recommendation or information or things to do in the Keys? Some things that I want to try out when I am out there is scuba diving and jet skiing.. Thanks!

A tan? More like a burn, use lots of sunscreen down there especially this time of year. I'm from FL so a beach is a beach to me, however, I recommend you visit Key West opposed to simply visiting the 'keys'. I've driven down there many times and I strongly encourage you to this early in the morning, perhaps spend the night from ATL-MIA and head out around 5-6am, otherwise their is a ton of traffic on a two-lane highway. Do NOT speed or do any crazy driving, they don't seem to have a sense of humor down there regarding moving violations. Even if you aren't certified I would look to scuba vs. snorkel and most places will take you out in < 10ft. with only a few minutes of instruction.

K, another question. I am trying to book a hotel or resort, in the $100-300 price range, nothing fancy. Some hotels I've found are Ocean Key Resort, Fairfield Inn and Suites, and Sheraton Suites.
I don't know if these places are any good because I am completely foreign to Key West, but do you guys have any other suggestions? My family and I are looking for something that overlooks the beach/ocean or a beach very close to the hotel/suite/resort.

^ +1. Duval street is where most of the stuff happens. i went to key west for a few days on vacation back last year, i would go again. The weather was very good.
My cousin went snorkeling, and you can just walk around and explore.. the island is pretty small.
