Anyone care to tell me why "rice" has been overused here lately?

I have been reading post after post of people calling things RICE and I was just curious why this has gotten to be so common?

I mean I see people calling a high end product that is high priced...rice I see people calling prebuilt subboxes...rice, even calling a car that has been properly lowered...rice

Can anyone comment on why this has gotten to be an every topic thing?

Are people that ignorant to say that eveything they dont like is rice?

Someone shed some light... maybe some true rice definitions so people can learn them.

BTW... this thread is... ................

Acutally, the only time I saw the word used was in a picture post regarding a brand new g37 with wide body kits and some ugly azz kit on... Too lazy to search but yeah, the ride was ugly.

And this site is fairly new. Haven't seen any G37 which ugly kits on yet. I don't even see why someone would want to ruin a G37 with fiberglass kits that don't fit properly and are cheap looking.

Now g35driver on the otherhand, that's an entirely different forum. haha.

Ya, I have seen it used a lot more these days.

Oh, BTW here is the urban definition of "ricer" cars:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ricer

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

According to the definition, any mod that increases the performance of the car (exhaust that give more hp/tq) are not rice. And for all you that said that intakes and exhaust are not meant to give you more performance out of your car but are bought to change the sound of your car are into "rice" cars. Looks like clearing out your headlights (fog lights) and taillights are rice. So if you did this you now have a "ricer." lol Nothing wrong with a little "rice."
