Hot sports cars in Houston

We all know that in a city the size of Houston with the relatively low cost of living and a number of residents with far better than average income form various local industries that there is great potential for tons of hot cars to be on our streets and highways. Where are they? Yes, we've all seen some. But very few compared to places like Cali. I bring this up because I went to Clear Lake Infiniti last Saturday and on the way there and back I saw:

1) Blue Ferrari F430 (I got wood!)
2) Yellow Porche 997 (Middle aged female driver - semi hot)
3) Red Aston Martin Vantage (Looks good from every angle)

Last week I saw a black Audi S5 on the streets for the first time at the Galleria. Wow. This made me notice how infrequently I see hot rides like this around here. Maybe it's just because I live and work on the "other" side of town.

Where are the hot cars in Houston?

The University of Georgia grads must be moving to Houston b/c we know for damn sure that LSU grads can't even find jobs. Lol.. j/k. Go Dawgs.

On a serious note, I was in buckhead the other night here in ATL and saw quite a few nice cars... Ferarri, 2 lambos, aston marton, maserati, a few p-cars. Hot stuff goin on here too.

I live in the Memorial area and mostly see the unique cars on the weekends - up and down Memorial drive between 610 and the beltway, or heading west on I-10. Galleria area is always good too on weekends.

I agree not as many as you'd think. In my neighborhood every 2nd car is either a BMW or Lexus. I see a fair number of Gs around, but more 35s than 37s.

UGA grads do move to H-town for jobs quite a bit. We Fightin' Tigers need someone to serve our food, cut our grass, and valet our cars!

But serioulsy, I was amazed when I first moved here at the huge number of LSU Alumni in the Houston area. I believe the Houston chapter of the LSU Alumni Association is the largest chapter outside of Baton Rouge. Lots of Fightin' Tigers get engineering and geology degrees and go to work in the energy industry here. There's an LSU bar (Little Woodrow's on Chimney rock @ Richmond) on the other side of town. They have the largest college football watching party in the city on Saturdays of any school including A&M, UT, and U of H and OU. Amazing.

But as far as the hot cars, every time I'm in Cali you needn't be in an affluent area or on weekends to see them. There are really nice cars and high end sports cars everywhere every day. Part of that is that Californians are more superficial than we are - a chic won't talk to you there until she knows what kind of car you drive. Plus big trucks and SUV's with huge mud tires and lift kits are more popular with some of the locals. I wonder how the Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porche dealerships here do sales wise comparatively to other parts of the country?

Hot rides??..here in Fort Worth we see John Deere, Kubota's, and even a few Catapillars from time to time-j/k.

We're making our annual pilgrimage out to Laguna Beach, Cali next week and one of my favorite things to do is hang out on PCH on Saturday for a few hours. It's outrageous what you see--from great muscle cars to exotics to vintage.

+1 to this.

When I used to live in Buckhead I saw some sick cars, not just ones you can go out an buy off a lot. I saw Lambo - Countachs, BMW Z8s, and I saw someone driving a Benz SLR...nothing quite like a $500k car...

oh, and go dawgs.

The Benz SLR was likely Chipper Jones from the Atlanta Braves. He has one and drives it all the time. My buddy used to do valet at a night club. No he never got to drive. Chipper wouldn't let a soul touch that car.
