Borla Exhaust Review.

My thoughts on the look: Looks Great... I like how the Tips do not Stick out like the Stillen ones did... Pipes look good.... The muffler looks OK... it couldve been polished and that wouldve been better...tips say borla on top and Muffler says Borla on it...
Weights savings big time... weighs only 50lbs total. I think this may be the lightest exhaust in the States so far...
There are no Resonators on the Borla.

Start up: DEEEEEEEEP! V8ish See Video to hear start upIdle: Womp Womp Womp Womp Womp Very V8ish... See Video here.

Rev up in car: Noticably Deeper but not over powering or uncomfortable

Rev up outside at rear: This tone is very deep and mean....

Driving with windows up and normal driving: I can tell a difference... Of couse I have HFCs also but like I said its not overwhelming...It makes me want to wind out the RPMs all the time...

Driving with windows up at WOT:
You can hear it big time...but again... with the windows up... It doesnt take away the luxury of the car... Im sure this has to do with the great build and sound dampening of the G37.

Driving with windows down and normal driving: Its louder.... I love it... I have no complaints and I dont like Loud ricer exhaust... so its not over my tolerance lever... I am having the DBs measured tomorrow... so Ill update this tomorrow.

Driving with windows down at WOT: A very deep growl at the lower RPMS until the engine noise took over and was louder than the exhaust. (like all exhaust and engine relationships)

Another

Cruising Vid with SunRoof Open

WOT with Sunroof open in Tunnel

Drive by outside car:
This sounds great... Addicting much!

Another

UPDATE!!! DB Measurement!!!

At my AutoX race today... They had a DB meter and if you got close to 93DB you would get a warning... if you got over 98DB you would recieve a DNF.

If you didnt get 93db or greater nothing would get wrote down. I had 6 races and there was nothing wrote down for me on either of the 6 runs... So during WOT the exhaust did NOT hit 93db .... So... Great performance without killing your eardrums...

Ill update the first post also....

Over all thoughts- With all the exhaust componets on my car right now that will be added... I am very satified with the noise level...Its not over whelming but its going to be a performance exhaust sounding tone. This is the deepest sounding exhaust that I have heard so far... Thats comparing the videos on the net... of Stillen, FI, Greddy, Tanabe, etc... Deep Deep Deep really sums it up.

POWER: This is really why the Borla exhaust was made. I can feel a large improvment over stock... Its throwing my Traction Control off like crazy... I know they have claimed high horse power gains and I can believe that there heavy gains on this exhaust... unsure what yet... but I can feel a huge difference...

I have a before dyno and I will be dynoing my "after" dyno in about 8-10 days at most... so ... ill update this and post the dynos soon...

Great review, and your right, it does sound really good......am dying to see what it does on the DB meter and dyno.

It would be nice if they made it polished, especially when they want so much for the system.

Oh yea, go get your rear axles fixed. I heard them ping in a few of the videos.

P.S. I bet your neighbors love you

Listen to the video where you pull out of what I assume to be your drive way. As soon as you start to move, you hear a double ping. This is from the rear axles, where they slide through the rear hubs. This is not too uncommon and I do believe there is a TSB on this. I had the same thing on my G and the shop foreman at my dealer said he knew exaclty what it was and took care of it for me.

It is in another pull away video too, just do not recall which one.

If it is not the axles, then you need them to look at the u-joints on the drive shaft but my money is on the axles.

Hmmm...Sounds good Max...I thought I was going to just stay with Berk HFC's plus stock exhaust but I may have to think about Borlal..It would all depend on the gains for me...I like the sound of course, but I also like the sound of stock with HFC's...If gains are 10whp or more I'll likely have to make the jump...

Question to both yourself and weave...That pinging noise is a sound I started getting AFTER installing the berk HFC's...Any shot that it has something to do with that since you also have that sound? My shop that did the install was going to have me come in and pin point the cause...Weave, you think there is a TSB for that? When we exchanged PM's and I told you about the noise I was getting THAT exact sound is what I referring to....

Thanks for the Vids max...Dyno when you have time...

Nice pics and vids! Get the axle chirp fixed. Dealer will do it with no problem. Just some lubrication.

Waiting for the dyno.....
