Wow thats crazy. Well thats another reason 6mt is good, because we can just force it out of gear/clutch in or something to remove the power from the engine to the wheels.
It is tragic that the 4 occupants inside the vehicle couldnt make it. they should have jumped ship once they realized the car was acting "out of control." This is assuming they were driving at relatively normal speeds before the car started to pick up pace. i wouldn't jump out at 120+
