Previous g35 owners...are you happy you moved up to the 37?
Okay, I've almost made the decision. I'm going to the stealership tomorrow to test drive a 37. I've had my 35 for 3 years now and the lease is almost up, and the decision is to buy out and keep my baby or step up to a 37.
The 37 is light years ahead as far as interior trim, tech/audio, ride (depending who you talk to), and refinement. The only real reasons I have for keeping my 35 is that it's the first new car I've ever had, and honestly - I'm scared the stock exhaust note isn't as perfect on a 37 as a 35. So to those of you who have made the jump from 35 to 37...Are you happy? How much do you miss your 35? And most importantly....is the 37's exhaust note teh sexsey enough for you? |

The G35 isn't worth keeping simply for the exhaust note. Very happy with the upgrade, for now.

Not trying to hijack the thread...but I'm wondering the same thing too. I've seen alot of 35s around that look awesome and was wondering from previous owners if they preferred their 35 or 37. Keep the responses coming guys, we wanna know how you feel!
![]() I personally think the 35 looks a little more beefy and a little more manly..I guess

I don't regret jumping up to a 37 from a 35 and i'm very happy i did. It's faster, rides better, so many gadget's and the interior is just amazing. I don't miss it all. You'll see what i'm talking about once you test drive it. Yes the exhaust is not that loud as the 35, but you can always replace it with an after market part. It's true that the 35 looks more manly, but the 37 will grow on you if you have it. I had the same thinking before, as you do. I'm happy with my upgrade.

Go for the 37 upgrade. Who wants a functional voice recognition system anyway...

I am very happy with the upgrade - and it truly is an upgrade.
The G37 is a more tame car from the inside, it's not as loud, as obnoxious, or as sporty in feel compared the the G35 coupe. The G35 coupe let you feel the road, the exhaust, and the engine moreso than the G37 IMO. I can see why people would be hesitant to let go of the nostalgia and the sport-iness of the G35 coupe, but the G37 is a step in the right direction for me; it is the G35 with more finesse, more power, more response, more luxury. Not to mention, it looks better.

I didn't have a 35 but a lot of friends did... I have to agree the 35 exhaust is sick, but IMO the front end looks so much better on the 37 then the 35s.... and the interior of the 35's seems like an altima in comparison to the 37...
good luck, whichever way you decide to go

came from a g35c and have no regrets. the only thing that i think the g35 has on the g37 is the exterior design. the g35 design is timeless IMO. the exhaust note on the g37 is awesome especially at WOT.

I still like the rear end on the g35 a little better, but the g37 has really grown on me especially once I got one...

Hey thanks for all the input guys. Of course the exhaust note isn't the only reason I would keep the 35, but I think it's what defines the car along with the side profile and big fat @ss.
The 37 looks more "sexy" and yeah, agree it's less "manly", and honestly I figured it pretty much looked more lexus coupe at first, but like you guys it's really grown on me. And I think I can get away with a little more refinement/less raw feel (which I like) since I'm lucky enough to have a whiff who drives an RX-8

never had a 35 but after having mhy 37 for almost 1.5 years, i am not sure i would get another infiniti. I love the look, interior and gadgets but I just feel its missing something when driving. Don't get me wrong, I got 27K on it and its a dream but i feel like its missing something. Its like driving my dads Lexus ls then driving a BMW 7 series. Just not the same. Would i buy my car again? I don't think so (don't flame me guys). Also, there are somethings in the interior that i don't feel are up to par and exterior. I detailed the car yesterday and noticed quite a bit of things that made me sad. Soft paint, lots of little pits in the glass. i love the car but if i had to do it again, i might go German or somewhere else.
BUTTT I am one of many who might or might not have this. For the money you have a lot of options. I know for what I am paying on my lease (got one of the 1st ones) I could be in a nice MB, BMW, Lexus or any other car for that. Just test drive a lot of cars. Exhaust notes are very easy to change, cars are not. lastly, the curb appeal. When you pull up in an M3 no matter the year, people are like DAMN, 335 DAMN, even 328i at some places they will just see BMW. When you pull up in an infinitii I don't feel its the same. Again, this shouldn't be a reason but they need to do more to build the luxury brand name. Hope you enjoy my novel..... In the end its a great car, great value and a great machine. Read the forums and you'll see things that people love and hate. Rattles, exhaust issues etc. Read other car forums and see what they like and hate. then drive a few cars and go from there.

Hey, you mentioned the soft paint...can any prev gen owners comment if the paint is any better on the new gen? Part of my decision is based on that if I buy out my lease I'll have to dump 4-5K on new paint because it looks like a 9th grader with a pizza-face.

I didn't own a G35 before so I can't speak from experience. But from what I've read, the paint hasn't really improved, it's still soft and susceptible to scratches. I guess the new Scratch Guard paint may help some, but I wouldn't know since I own an 08 like most of the people on this form
