2009 G37 vs 370z
(oops sorry I mean G37 in the title)...
hello all. Thanks for the great forum. I am currently in the market for a new car and am considering either an 09 G37s 7AT or 370z 7AT. I understand two are not comparable with one being more GT and the other a 2 seater sports car. I am just curious if you guys had any perspective on both vehicles. I recently had the pleasure of driving a G37s and I was extremely impressed. I am coming from 335 coupe so I had my bars raised high. A few random thoughts I had about the G37: 1. Even with my overweight salesman, G37 actually felt peppier (sp?) and more responsive than the 370z. With 300 more lbs than the Z, I expected quite opposite. I see both cars are geared the same so I am not sure what may be causing the difference. I really enjoyed the DS mode. 2. Fit and finish and ride quality was amazing. Outward visibility was FAR superior to the Z. Z has absolutely horrible blind spot on the passenger side. 3. In terms of outward appearance, the Z gets my nod mainly because of it's aggressive bubbly styling but to each his own... Thanks for listening and look forward to learning more about G37. Quick ? - has there been any official 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for 2009 G37 7AT? The closest I've seen was G37x coupe and sedan both posting 5 to 5.2 sec 0-60 runs. Hopefully the RWD 7AT can post sub 5 sec runs?? Last edited by sbkim; 02-07-2009 at 08:12 PM. |

well if you want to mod your car all out, go with the Z. if you like both and need the extra seats get the G. If you like the style more of one and seats don't matter get that.

with 2 more seats and a bigger trunk, g37 was the better choice for me as this is my only car. i had the same dilemma when i picked up my g35 in 05. plus now im spoiled with all the infiniti luxury features. of course, post this on a 370z forum and you might get different reviews.
really comes down to what car you want/need more.

great points. I have a second car that I'll be using during winter. I still like how G37 drives and would strongly prefer better service and warranty vs Nissan.

I think my salesperson lied to me. He told me it was an 09 but I just realized that the car I test drove didn't have dial seat heaters. I am afraid may be the 7 speed is the culprit for sluggish performance of the 370z as opposed to the 5spd auto in 2008 G37.

G27, lol
Is that a new model for '09? lol
I'm very interested in this. Wonder what the performance and milage would be like... Maybe this would be comparable to the BMW 1-Series? Or, at least more fair competition against the 3-Series, lol. All kidding aside, G37 over the 370Z IMO any day of the week. |

haha - yea, my clumsy typing fingers ![]() My wife def agrees with you as well. But I can't deny that 370z looks sportier. Now, my concern is performance of 370z 7AT - it felt surprisingly sluggiesh even compare to 2008 G37 5AT... |

If BMW ever makes a 3 series with a nicer interior and gets closer in price, it would be a much more difficult decision for me... maybe slightly leaning towards the 3er, but as it stands today, the G is my clear choice. |

I haven't driven the '09 S model w/ the 7AT yet only the '08 5AT, but I'm definitely getting the '09 7AT. I think it's just a better way to go IMO.
