G37S Lease is Nearly Over - Nissan Nismo 370Z
Greetings All,
My 24 month lease is nearly up. The black G37S with it's shinny chrome wheels and light window tinting has been an awesome car. I have enjoyed every mile. I've had a lot of cars in my life, and this one is truly remarkable. For those interested, the black paint has held up exceptionally well; no swirl or towel marks. However, the front bumper has a wee bit of road rash (would highly recommend a clear bra). I can't say enough about Griot's Garage products - they work! Second, routine maintenance has been meticulously carried out by the dealer. I have had no problems with the automobile. Third, my Bridgestone tires lasted ~19000 miles (with a treadwear of 140 it's no surprise). And no, it's never been to Willow Springs Raceway. Fourth, I am going to sorely miss the almost unbelievable residual value and insanely low money factor rate. The economy has put a hurt on the entire automobile industry. And finally, now it comes down to another G37 or the new Nissan Nismo 370Z. I would enjoy hearing any thoughts from you fine members or anyone that has made the switch to Nissan. Much thanks in advance - Semper Fi. |

Guess it would depend if you want a true sports car or not. The Nismo is one in every sense of the word, and it probably won't be as great for you to drive on a day to day basis as the G, at least comfort wise. I personally wouldn't get the Nismo for a daily driver, but that's just me. Besides, I want the 370z roadster :>

Good choice even though the majority of 370Z owners would rather mod their cars as per their desires. With Nismo, you're forced with their exhaust, their ECU tune, their kit, spoiler & suspension. I'd rather get an FI exhaust for instance, some KW coils and wait for a body kit sexier than that of Nismo's, saves the $$$. You'll need to retune with Nismo anyways if you install Intakes, HFC, headers etc.. so there goes the money spent on the Nismo tune.
In brief, if you're keeping her stock, get Nismo otherwise get a Base 370Z and mod her like a true gearhead ![]() My 2 cents

^ agree.
I spend a good bit of time over on the370z.com and the general consensus is that the Nismo is more of exclusivity tag than a performance tag. Sure the performance is better than base, but you can do all of those modifications per your liking via the aftermarket. I personally like the cleaner lines of the 370sport more than the Nismo. Just remember the Z is a REAL sports car... it's noisy, small, and rough but a damn fun car.

I had a 08 350z, sold it and got a g37.
Test drove a 370z a couple of weeks ago. I liked it, but wasnt overwhelmed by it. Z Felt quicker on the low end than the G(same engine, less weight). Interior is def an improvement over the 350z, but not a nice as the G. Revmatch was fun for a minute, but ended up turning it off. I thought the shifter and clutch enagement was more refined in the Z. After driving the Z for about 40 minutes I missed the comfort of my G..

the 370z leases out almost $150 per month higher than a g37 coupe currently does.. but it's always been that way.

Thanks everyone very much for your thoughts. I agree with you regarding the leasing. I've discussed a lease with Nissan and you are correct, considerably higher (for a less expensive car). For a couple hundred more a month, you could drive a Porsche. I also agree with the statements regarding mods; unfortunately, if I lease I can't justify spending money for the mods just to give them up. I know, I know, I could sell the mods to someone here on this fine forum. The Nismo comes with some pretty neat mods; suspension, exhaust, engine turning, etc. And finally comfort...I test drove the Nismo and it is not as comfortable as the G37S. However, most of my trips are less than 20 miles. As for looks, the Nismo looks awesome; I love the rear spoiler and front air dam, it has better performance, but less comfort, no navigation, and no rear camera (and my neck is getting older every day). I also want to change colors; as you know, the black G37S requires constant wiping and washing. Nissan has a great red color and looks appropriate for the Nismo. Thank you all again for taking time to respond. I appreciate your thoughts. I have yet to make a decision. Semper Fi |

Why not keep the G. Just because the lease is up doesn't mean you have to turn it in.

(in other words, 2 year leases exist, but they don't REALLY want anyone to do it)The 370z is a great car non the less, and if you wanted a more agressive G37, you found it ![]() Quote:
