My question is what kind of a person would actually state that the Genesis coupe has better styling than the G37??
It looks like the Genesis = a G37 copy fail. And those hideous tail lights, what year are we in? 1998 when euro lights were in style?

That was terrible. It compared the Genesis to the v6 Camaro and the Gen crushed the Camaro in pretty much EVERY performance catagory. The Maro won by 1 "point" b/c the writers gave it like 8 extra points on the "gotta have it" category. Are you freaking kidding me? Talk about not wanting to alienate your reader base, what a worthless comparison. Heaven forbid Korea spank an American Icon. Too bad GM and Ford can't come up with anything original and have to selltle for throw backs. That's why I bought my G after selling my 420hp Mustang. Live in the now man.

![]() Very well stated. Coming from someone (me) with no biased twords any of the cars over the other..... I have driven a lot of different cars. I know this is an Infiniti biased forum (obviously), but I must admit, the new Gen coupe is every bit comparable to the G37 coupe......except in price . Magazine article writers like this have to cater to their advertisers and not piss anyone off, not bite the hand that feeds them so to speak. Therefore you have to look at any magazine car comparison as entertainment value and that's about it. More times than not, the outcome will favor either the majority of their readers taste or which ever company is paying the most money to them for "advertising". LOL Sad but true. Now I really like the Infiniti G37 sedan and coupe, and I also like the Genises Sedan and coupe. Personally I like the G37 coupe over the Genesis coupe for daily driving (if they were the same price), but since one of them is a lot cheaper it kinda helps even out the playing field. As for the track/ weekend driver I slightly prefer the lighter weight and more nimble, better proportion of the Genesis coupe over the G37 coupe. Also remember from a tuners standpoint, the Genises offers a 2.0 TURBO !! or the higher displacment 3.8 liter V6. With the Genesis there is A LOT more uncorked potential there to work with over the G, unfortunately. As for the G37 sedan and the Genesis sedan, I hands down prefer the Genises in every aspect, interier, drivability, power, plus it also comes with an optional V8 .I am sure most on here don't want to hear what I just said as you all are Infiniti owners already and it is natural to want to like and stand behind what choice you made at all costs, but I am just keeping it real. Now, I love the Nissan/ Infiniti brand, probably more than any other brand in that demographic and price range, but it looks like they might have a little more REAL competition here in the comming years and they need to step it up.

I like Hyundais--I have owned two. They provide great value for the money, and mine have been quite dependable. They were not close to my G by any measure, but they were close to being close. They've made huge strides over the last 10 years or so. Who's to say their next leap won't bring them into close competition with the luxury marques?

+100.
Remember when Lexus and Infiniti came out in 1989-90? At first; the Germans didn't even take them seriously. Then reality hit....![]() Hopefully Infiniti and Lexus won't make the same mistake of underestimating an up & coming brand...

you get more prestige (not important, depends on the person), Japanese reliability (but the days of Korean cars not being reliable are over), better interior (the Genesis has a adequate interior considering its cost), better audio system, & a faster car. For some, that's worth it, but for others, it's not. The $ gap is big, & with the Genesis, you still get a reliable car with a sporty interior, that is reasonably fast & has excellent handling & brakes.
Similar to how the 1st gen G35 was competitive with the 3-Series in performance at a better $ value but not as luxurious, whereas now the 2nd gen G37 improved on the luxury part & is competitive with the 3-Series all-around, I expect the future Genesis coupe will address some of the shortcomings & be even more competitive with the G. I do agree that for some, the prestige part may hurt the Genesis, but people forget, when the Japanese 1st started doing luxury or higher end cars, they were underestimated. Hyundai is making increasingly good cars that are also reliable, & at great prices. |

The 45k price tag the article cites for the G37 is clearly with Premium Package, Navigation, and Tech at minimum...Not really fair to comparo prices as 30k versus 45k when the Hyundai's price is without Navi, tech, etc. So really a true price comparison would put the G at about 38k I'd say, and at 30k vs 38k, I'd say the extra $ for the Infiniti is worth it.
This guy is a great reviewer though, nice find and nice article!!!
